Hansens's contract is US$4.05-million, three-year deal.

Hansen will make $1.6 million next season followed by $1.35 million in 2012-13 and $1.1 million in 2013-14.

Works out to be a 1.35 Mill cap hit.

shawn79 07-28-2011 02:32 PM

excellent

Liquid_o2 07-28-2011 02:52 PM

1.35 million cap hit for Hansen is a great deal for both sides. He is one of our best checkers and penalty killers and hustles every single shift. Pus he displayed last year that he is capable for putting up some points on the board.

Glad to see that it isn't another one year deal either.

Gumby 07-28-2011 03:02 PM

That looks like a reasonable contract. :)

Unlike some of the other ones that were signed on/shortly after July 1st... :blueguy:

Some signing were so super sketch.

But I guess you have to pay to play.

Imagine next season with Weber and Parise.

spoon.ek9 07-28-2011 05:02 PM

sweet! i was expecting it would turn out to be $1.5mil cap hit or worse. $1.35 is a great deal for what Hansen brings to the table :D

punkwax 07-28-2011 05:42 PM

Ya, that's a good deal for Hansen.

if he can get rid of his stone hands... he'll be a steal.... essentially we're just paying for his hard work and determination, hopefully he can break the 40pt barrier.. or im just dreaming

plus... which season?

nosaj 07-28-2011 07:47 PM

Great signing and a very good cap hit.

Hansen is one of my favorite players. He's what Burrows was before Burr got top line duty. I think the Canucks have a diamond in the rough. He might be even better by the time his contract is done.

I see Hansen having 15-20 goal potential. Can't believe he was one of the last picks in the 04 draft..One of Nonis' rare smart picks

keifun 07-28-2011 08:52 PM

now I'm really thinking of getting his name/number on my next jersey purchase since he's here to stay for 3 more yrs.

one of my fav canucks.

shawn79 07-28-2011 08:52 PM

if he can put up 25-30 points, i think he'll have done his job. he's never really had the finish of a consistent goal scorer.

by far i think his greatest limitation is his effectiveness peaks with a 3rd line role. he is unable to produce enough to stay in a role higher than that.

Culverin 07-28-2011 10:52 PM

We need somebody to make one of these for the canucks.

Nope you aren't dreaming. Well before Burr and Kes became the players they are today, they were used for checking and hitting (similar to what Hansen is doing right now)

If Hansen is given the chance to play with Kes fulltime, he'll easily jump up the points chart.

There's a really good article on CanucksArmy suggesting Hansen as a 2nd line candidate.

I remember watching some of the interviews with Bieksa or Luongo where they always joke around with Hansen saying he's one of the more serious hard working players during practice and he's probably one of the best. He could stickhandle through you and everything. That's why they believe sooner or later, he's going to do it in the game as well. I'm going to try to look up that video.

yes since true north owns the Moose

spoon.ek9 07-29-2011 08:59 AM

i'd love to be proven wrong about hansen. it would mean a lot for our team!

b0unce. [?] 07-29-2011 12:15 PM

i love having a guy like hansen on our team. although point production wise late into the playoffs wasnt there, arguably the rest of our team didn't show up either. He at least showed some heart while playing, at just little over a mil a year, im fine with that.
