They don't. In fact, they specifically placed notices on every seat before the game that anyone caught throwing them will be ejected.. of course if everyone is throwing them, they can't really toss everyone out can they? lol

Why couldn't that goal be called off?

Everyone's looking at the same replays from all the camera angles.

Can a call on the ice not be reverted or something? :suspicious: :fulloffuck:

I can understand if it's a bad call for a penalty, where it would be hard to cancel the call because play was blown down.
But after a goal or a disallowed goal, play would have been stopped anyway.
So why can't they revert it if proven to be a bad goal based on instant replay.

It's as simple as checking for off-side goals and then disallowing them and then resetting the clock.
(Although even that, there's instances where they don't even bother reviewing that)

I don't understand how all this officiating system works... like when something is not "review-able"

I don’t know how it is worded in the NHL rulebook, but basically for goals that are reviewed, the call on the ice stands if the review from Toronto is inconclusive. So for last night, if Toronto (where the review happens) can’t with out a shadow of a doubt see that Neil’s skate came in contact with the puck in a kicking motion, than they have to go by what the call on the ice was at the time of the event. While it looks like in the many replays, that Neil’s skate does touch the puck; you can’t be 100% certain. As a result, they can’t make a decision one way or the other and they have to go by the call that was made on the ice. The call on the ice was a goal, therefore it counts.

fliptuner 04-24-2012 09:04 AM

Sounds like AV isn't going anywhere.

fsy82 04-24-2012 09:08 AM

shit hes just putting hodgson under the bus..basically saying he wanted a trade

Gh0stRider 04-24-2012 09:14 AM

@vancanucks: Mike Gillis - "Both goaltenders give us an opportunity to win every game we play". Has "every bit of confidence" in both.
@TEAM1040: Gillis on goalie situation: "If that's our worst case scenario, it's not so bad. Having two guys like that on a team is not a bad thing"

I believe AV isn't at today's press conference due to scheduling conflicts. He isn't going anywhere, yet.

hes in the building. he said that right in the beginning of his presser

fliptuner 04-24-2012 09:19 AM

Yup, MG said he was 20' behind him at the beginning.

"If you're asking me if we're going to give up on Mason Raymond, the answer's no."

Mike Oxbig 04-24-2012 09:19 AM

:considered:
MG said there are 5 power foward players that you cant get in trade or ufa, something that kassian will develop into. Who might they be?

Gh0stRider 04-24-2012 09:20 AM

@TEAM1040: Gillis: "I feel like we're Columbus here. We're not. We had 111 points. We're still a good hockey team"

he said not giving up on mayray

@hosea24hours: "If you're asking me if we're going to give up on Mason Raymond, the answer is no" - Gillis.

you got that totally wrong. he said there were 6 young players he was willing to trade cody for and zack was one of them.

Mike Oxbig 04-24-2012 09:24 AM

pretty sure he also said there are 5 power fowards you couldnt get

spoon.ek9 04-24-2012 09:26 AM

he said exactly what i just typed up there. he went on to say that you cannot acquire a power forward like kassian if he has already been developed into the player they believe he can become.

kwy 04-24-2012 09:41 AM

Zack hasn't been looking good so far. Hopefully Gillis is right, if he is he'll look like a genius. It'll be interesting to see how Kassian develops next year.

spoon is right, but I think he said 6 players.

I also think he spilled the Cody stuff to save his ass because of how bad the trade looks right now.

Roach 04-24-2012 09:46 AM

He really let loose on Hodgson.

Basically stating that he played him only in offensive situations to showcase him for trade.

As well, he mentioned in regards to player issues, that over the past 3 years he invested as much time in Cody Hodgson as all of his other players combined.

Pretty damn'ing words.

Gillis continued to show support for AV at the press conference this morning.
I agree with some of his comments.

That being said, I do not think Vigneault is the right kind of coach for this team. He is not the right kind of coach who can help this team make adjustments in strategy during the playoffs. Sometimes I question his choice of players to play on the first line.

You can count an endless number of times where the coach didn't make a quick enough adjustment to the LA forecheck on our defenceman. Their forecheckers gave our defense so many problems in zone breakouts.

-still wonder why AV gave Mason Raymond a chance to play with the twins despite his horrible play both on offence and defense.

Remember what Gillis said when he became hired as GM? He said that he would make some "bold moves" to help this team become a legitimate Cup contender.

Well, what bold moves is he gonna make? I seriously think that the core players needs to be changed slightly. This team needs to be energized, and have a new identity.

Rick Nash is available. Our forward depth with Booth, Higgins, Kesler, and Burrows did nothing in the playoffs. Time for a change?

Make Rick Nash a Vancouver Canuck! How bold a move would that be? No guts, no glory. Look at Philadelphia. The Flyers GM made two gutsy trades with Carter and Richards leaving the team. Look at that team.

I'm not saying that Gillis needs to make two blockbuster trades. Maybe one major trade to jumpstart this team. A legit power forward who can score. A player that can bring fans to watch games.

Do it Gillis! Make Nash a Canuck!
