Luongo deserves better for sure We took him, drained him and now we dumping him... Just like every super star we had |
He's the Dark Knight |
Luongo's a big boy, he's a professional, I don't understand why all of a sudden there's coddling about how the city "drained him" or "under appreciated him." He's a professional athlete, an elite one, it comes with the territory. We don't have to baby these guys. It's a results-based industry. In any other job industry, if you don't deliver the results the co. expects of you then there might be changes. It's actually more cut throat, with exceedingly less money involved. |

Maybe those Luongo bashers are realizing that he's the best goalie this franchise has ever seen. |
It's gonna be a very interesting offseason to say the least. Team 1040 and sports radio is gonna be full of callers calling in to give their thoughts on the team. |
anyone got a link to the full press conference? |

Personally whether or not Lu stays, doesn't bother me the slightest. I've never hated Luongo, I just felt he was mentally weak and inconsistent, and it always felt like it came at the worst possible times. Of course ideally we would want both Lu and CWALL as our goalies, but yeah, unless Cory is willing to stay a back up here, one of them has to go. |

Is there potential for a three-way deal? 1) Luongo to Tampa 2) Lecavalier to team X 3) Players/Prospect come to Canucks from Tampa and team X Luongo goes back home to Florida Tampa takes on less salary Lecavlier waives his NTC and lists team x that needs to reach the cap floor Canucks get a top 6 forward and prospect. WIN. Now you guys can put holes in this argument. |

That all depends on who team X would be.. I think it'd be hard to unload Vinny's contract...he makes about 7.5? |
I'm indifferent about Luongo leaving. His best season was his first (2007) when he was in top physical form and literally took the team on his back to the 2nd round. If we could have had just one game in Boston in which he didn't shit the bed, he would have a commemorative statue outside Rogers Arena. It's a shame because he had all of the physical tools and attitude coming out of junior to be a winner. Sure, he'll get a team into the playoffs and maybe a couple of rounds in, but most teams know that you just have to get him to move side-to-side and he's done. Since he was injured a couple of seasons ago, he hasn't been the same goalie. I wish him well, but he needs a heck of a D in front of him to win his team a Cup. Cory is unproven, but he just seems to have the mentality of a winner. |
Maybe the leafs will make a play for Luongo.. who knows lol.. I'm sure Burke/Nonis will get desperate to get that team into the playoffs too and Luongo will fit right in.. it'd be crazy if Burke offers us his 1st rounder (5th) |

^ I wouldn't mind Kadri...or even that 5th overall pick too LOL (That's if Burke loses his mind again) |
Luongo took the benching with class, I like the guy he is a very good player and doesn't deserve whatever people say about him to stir the pot. I wish we could keep both goalies :( |
I think all the haters are now scared to lose Luongo because it was so much easier to cheer for Schneider knowing we still had Luongo as the safety net. They are now realizing we might actually lose him and the possibility that Schneider might not turn into the goalie we all hope he is. There won't be no safety net this time. |
