That's part of what I like about Gillis. A lot of new GMs come in, try and put their stamp on things and fuck it up. MG's tires deserve to be pumped 100% Posted via RS Mobile |

Salary cap at $64M according to Bob Mackenzie. Wow, did not expect it to go up so high. http://twitter.com/#!/TSNBobMcKenzie...63249056772096 |
whoa....now all of a sudden, we might keep more than we thought we would. |
higher salary cap could also mean that the asking price for the free agents also just went up :( |
do they expect the cap to go up every year because thats what it seems like :blueguy: |
Yea, those approved long term contracts like Hossa, Keith, Kovalchuk, Luongo, etc. are looking like a steal, especially if the cap keeps going up at the same pace (it started at $39M in 05/06). |
Bieksa and Salo already stated they'd take a pay cut to stay here.. hopefully the cap going up won't change their decisions. |
id take jovo over salo for the same price |
i wish we could just rebuild salo with adamantium so he could play a FULL season :lol |

Edit: Found it: http://www.vancouversun.com/opinion/...875/story.html |
And a lot of free agents that might have skipped Vancouver will want to come to Vancouver after our cup run and incredible season. And I hope Gillis makes the right moves this summer and beefs the team up where we need some beefing up so we can make another cup run next season. I have faith in the core we have and I don't think we'll have to wait over a decade for another cup run, it'll happen sooner rather than later. |
Yeah Bieksa is a different story. Hes best friends with Kesler and Burrows and loves playing in Vancouver. Ehrhoff has also stated he was willing to take a hometown discount but how much is the question. Id like to see us go after Simon Gagne. Hes alil injury prone but hes definately a playoff performer. Hes collected over 26Mil in the past 5 seasons so maybe this time around he'll be looking for a cup instead of the money. The Other big ticket name is Brad Richards. We can easily trade away Raymond and Ballard and there combined salaries would be almost equivilent to Richards would be making. Im well aware Richards is a center but as u may know, u can never have enough centers cause they can also play wing aswell. |
Brad Richards has about as much chance of coming here as Shea Weber. Slim to none. |
LOL as much as I'd love to see Richards sign with us..it's highly unlikely LOl. Trading away Raymond and Ballard wouldn't still be enough for him IMO. He said he wants to play in a "smaller NHL market", so who knows. Stranger things have happened in the past during free agency. Quote:

Wishful thinking i guess, but i honestly rather have Richards on this team than Weber. Our defence when healthy doesnt need a guy like Weber. Not to take anything away from Weber, i know how good he is, but the reason we lost in the SCF is not our defence imo. |
Richards isn't a player we need/want anyways, neither is gange Posted via RS Mobile |
rather pay a bit more for gagne, anyone remember the rumors because simon gagne for markus naslund so he can play with forsberg in philly hahah gagne > raymond |
Ya Gange would be great!.....fo the 12 games he will be healthy enough to play. |
Simon Gagne and Brad Richards are both 31 and are at the end of their primes. I wouldn't want either of them unless the contracts were short term, I'd be comfortable with 2 years, max of 3. |
