Shocking!! RIP. Had the chance of meeting him when he was staying in Vancouver; super nice guy in person and pretty chill. You're going to be missed Rick Rypien!! |
I remember watching Rypien fuck Valabik up at the Nucks vs Thrashers game in December 09.. gonna miss the guy |
Sad...even worse he never really achieved any potential he had What in his life could have been so bad to kill yourself Posted via RS Mobile |
RIP. Maybe the personal issues were a factor in his death, but he will always be remembered for trying to fight guys twice his size. |

Holy shit, didn't expect this. RIP |
that is a big news... what happend to this guy ? he took time off and thought he was recovered and now he is dead ? unbelievable... wonder what has gotten to him |
RIP Rypien :( |
Holy shit!!! RIP |
Was he really bi-polar? I had heard this years ago. Posted via RS Mobile |
RIP Rypien. Some boards are speculating he hanged himself. This is sad news if it is true. First Boogaard, now Rypien - both having completed time in the NHL substance abuse program. This is going to hurt the NHL's image for sure and put a spotlight on fighting and the lifestyle of NHL "enforcers" |
Some Rypien fights.. RIP |

1. It's hung himself, not hanged. Edit..wow, buddy on fb corrected me when I said hanged. Facepalm myself then 2. Rypien never spent time int he substance abuse program. |

I thought he had agreed to enter the program. Guess not. It is "hanged" when referring to people isn't it? |
This is so sudden. RIP Rypien. I'll always remember him being a pound for pound fighter and one of the best middleweights in the league. While many posters have praised his ability to fight players twice his size, his fights with Brandon Prusts were probably the most memorable for me. This one tops it off: |
he could score too |
