rather pay a bit more for gagne, anyone remember the rumors because simon gagne for markus naslund so he can play with forsberg in philly hahah
gagne > raymond
LOL holy blast from the past. Now that you brought that up, who remembers this?
Simon Gagne and Brad Richards are both 31 and are at the end of their primes.
I wouldn't want either of them unless the contracts were short term, I'd be comfortable with 2 years, max of 3.
Players like Richards don't hit their 'prime' until after 31, IMO. He may not score as many goals as he once did, but as a character player on your roster, he's worth a lot.
with hoff, i think he realizes that we're close to a cup and he believes mg will come through making some changes/tweaks to improve the team and put us back in the finals within the next year or two. based on the interview, it looks like hoff just wants a 'fair' deal to remain a canuck. hopefully he stays.
honestly, i wouldn't mind seeing salo here again assuming he's here for the right price. even tho the cap has been raised, i would like to see a few new faces/improvements from mg. i know ballard is tied down and is incredibly over paid, but... i think they are gonna find a way to help him mesh better. it SEEMS that ballard has the drive and motivation to improve and play better to crack the full time roster.
i'd like to see tanev in the line up definitely. nothing but impressed with the kid during the regular season and couldn't argue or say anything negative about him during the playoffs when he had to step him. kid plays solid d, nothing more i could really ask for at this point.

We should trade with Winterpeg to get Dustin 'the black anvil' Byfuglin. We need a big body bad to play with the sisters. At the same time we need some more skill on the "Helicopter" line.

are you implying he goes back to pwf? or you would want him to play d but to just stand in front of the net during a PP or something

MG has done the right things...gotta agree with that, he did manage to keep the core of the team together..so kudos to him. Im curious how his draft choices from his past to future will pan out. then we can truly measure his success.
Wow, mike Gillis sure gets a lot of tire pumping, considering the core of the team was put together by Burke and Nonis. Something Gillis never gives credit for btw.
Gillis has done a good job of filling gaps and basically not fucking up like a lot of GMs do. I don't thunk he's a "genius" though...
The core didn't evolve until Gillis got here...maybe during Nonis somewhat as well. Gillis has made better moves than Burke ever did apart from the amazing deal to get the Sedins on draft day. Look at the deadline deals that were supposed to bolster our roster. Yay, Mika Norenen...Eric Weinrich...Martin Ruchinsky...
Higgins and Lappy have been the absolute best deadline deals since '94...and Gillis has managed to get this roster under great deals.
The way I see it is...Gillis makes decisions based on math and logic when others might go on...feel. Look at fucking Glen Sather for example.
good lord, can you imagine buttfugger on the same team as luongo? personally, i hate the guy for what he did to us in the playoffs
it's akin to signing messier IMO.
Nah it's not the same at all.
Messier took away Linden's captaincy, took #11 when he shouldn't have, and plotted with Mike Keenan to get rid of most of the roster to do it THEIR way.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) hi there
(づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ・。*。✧・゜゜・。✧。*・゜゜・✧。・$$$$$゜゜・。*。・゜*✧ .
He was playing injured.
I'm surprised he wants to come back for another year. I'm hoping its something like 1 year $1M
i know he was injured but he looked to be one of the more healthier ones during the final compared to others.
side note: what do you guys think about letting schnieder battle it out with luongo for the starter position? ie, giving the starting position based on performance rather than reputation like what was done with the defenseman and forwards. i was just reading a province article that suggested this.
