Hockey is probably the sport that needs to evolve the most as players get more skilled, bigger, stronger

Some of those rule changes though are pretty crazy

take icing out of the game and let goalies play back in the corners

atleast there wont be icing injuries anymore, we can put that to rest...

jeedee 08-17-2011 05:15 PM

If you take icing out, hockey will just be a 60 minute game of dump and chase. Taking it out would be stupid :fulloffuck:

tonyzoomzoom 08-17-2011 05:31 PM

I agree on the goaltenders in the corners. Let them play the puck there (so the D's don't get clobbered in the corners) but also allow some contact from opposing players if the goalie is playing the puck outside the blue paint.

shawn79 08-17-2011 05:33 PM

^ if thats the case goalies will be targeted

tonyzoomzoom 08-17-2011 05:47 PM

true. but with no contact (current rules), I hate the fact that the goalie can essentially shield the puck by positioning himself between the puck and the opposing player.

:troll:

DanHibiki 08-17-2011 07:37 PM

^That was the one good thing Hordichuk did as a Canuck and will be remembered for it.

hypediss 08-17-2011 07:58 PM

hahaha japanese commentary awww yea!

CorneringArtist 08-17-2011 10:02 PM

So, would anyone consider the Hordichuk hit a fair play as Turco was WELL outside the crease? Serious question, I want to know what people think.

sonick 08-17-2011 10:04 PM

Yes, totally fair.

Bouncing Bettys 08-17-2011 10:36 PM

As a kid, I always liked the abuse the goalies took when they strayed from their crease.

an example - starts at 1:18

I also miss the offensive threat goalies could be when they played the puck, either starting the breakout or trying to score.. I never understood why they handcuffed the goalies like that when the NHL has been trying to increase scoring.

I think it was a fair play. There isn't a rule protecting a goalie once he's outside of the crease, is there?

Apparently said rule doesn't apply to Tim Thomas when he leaves his crease and gets tripped. I thought that if a goalie leaves the blue paint (now a days), he's somewhat liable to contact?

Dear Canucks fans

Don't worry. He's happier now. Because he just stepped out of a dressing room and onto a bench where Luc is sitting, waiting for him. Luc stands up to greet his old roomate and teammate. They both have full equipment on, and it looks like they are wearing Canucks jerseys - they seem a little blurry, but Rick sees that all of the players skating by have jerseys that are a little blurry too, as if the logo is there but not overly important. Luc, with a handful of arrows in his hand, offers Rick a stick. Now he can step out onto the ice. It's endless and he can skate and stickhandle and when he wants to pass, there is someone there to pass to, and when he wants to shoot, there is a net in front of him and when he drops his gloves, there is a keen and worthy opponent ready for a friendly scrap. The ice goes on forever and it's so smooth, it's as if a zamboni is always one stride ahead of him. And when he wants to take a break he can sit on the bench and look down upon the guys he played for, played with and played against. And he sits with Luc in hockey heaven as Luc catches arrows and Rick throws punches and it's the happiest place they've ever seen.

I'm all for no icing when you're on the PK. Also removing the trapezoid for the goalies and letting them roam freely. If they're out of their crease then they should be fair game to be hit imo.
