I'm surprised he wants to come back for another year. I'm hoping its something like 1 year $1M

I would say about 2 mil roughly is fair. Maybe 2.5

Salo will come back @ around 3 mill or 2.5 mill max.

Everybody calling for Salo to sign for $1 mill is delusional.

spoon.ek9 06-20-2011 12:23 AM

i'd like to see him signed for $2 mil 1-2 years but $2.5 is more realistic.

side note: what do you guys think about letting schnieder battle it out with luongo for the starter position? ie, giving the starting position based on performance rather than reputation like what was done with the defenseman and forwards. i was just reading a province article that suggested this.

I wanna see this happen. Thomas lost his job to Rask in 09-10 and bounced back this year with an incredible season. I'm hoping we can see the same from Lu

spoon.ek9 06-20-2011 12:27 AM

i agree with most people that cory looks more stable and calm, but we have yet to see him tested against the best teams combined with a larger workload.

Ronin 06-20-2011 12:27 AM

Salo = $2m.

His injury history brings his market value down a lot. Some teams will be willing to pay him maybe his current salary but probably no more. He'll take $1m less to stay in Vancouver.

DanHibiki 06-20-2011 12:44 AM

^ I say 1.5mil MAX.

He's old and broken.

Yup and how many games can Cory handle? I mean playing a few games here and there is different compared to say playing 50 games in a season. And remember Lu always has a slow start and sucks in Oct/Nov and starts to find his game in Dec so why not give Cory more games in the beginning and see how he handles it.

trip 06-20-2011 12:50 AM

salo at 1.75 is about right

Domed 06-20-2011 01:01 AM

cory can handle a larger workload he played 60 for the moose last season

60 games in the AHL is nothing like 60 games in the NHL.

His point productions in the AHL haven't really blown me away either. I'd say give him a year or 2 in the minors and he'll be in the top 6.

???????

I say Salo comes back at $2M and Juice at $4M. Hopefully Ehrhoff won't be making more than Hamhuis and I'll sleep happy.

You do know he was talking about Cory Schneider and not Cody Hodgson right?

But both players said they would take paycuts so why pay Bieksa 4mil when we can prob get him for 3?

Domed 06-20-2011 01:11 AM

some goalies say the nhl is easier than the ahl because the defence is way better and are usually in the right position while the shots are faster and more accurate. if you play goalie the speed and accuracy of shots dont affect the game as much as having better dmen to help you out and make the right plays

Other teams would pay up to $5M for him (sup Toronto :troll: ) but if he signs for $3M, I'll be even happier :fullofwin:

Edit: He made $3.5M this season (@ $3.75M cap hit), he deserves a raise. I just hope he doesn't shit the bed like he did after he signed his current contract.

Edit 2: It's a BIG gamble but MG will probably keep Ballard UNLESS someone offers him something he can't refuse (2 1st round draft picks from TO?! :fullofwin: ). I don't know where we stand in terms of cap space but I wouldn't be surprised if he brings in a power forward to play with Kes (Laich or Ward????). Raymond is out for a while so I have no idea who will be on the other wing lol. Lapierre, Hansen, Torres will probably be re-signed. Higgins if the cap allows him to do so.

Domed 06-20-2011 01:15 AM

yeah if bieksa signs for 3mil that would be a steal but i dont think he will take less than what he made this season

I believe it was Cory Schneider that said exactly that himself during one of his interviews this season. lol

I guarantee any goalie that can get a hat trick will be top 6 for sure. :troll:

iwantaskyline 06-20-2011 02:03 AM

I'm hoping MG makes a move for Laad. Wouldn't mind him on the wing with Kes, even if they had problems in the past. He's an RFA for Winnipeg, Raymond + 2nd round pick should do it. I don't see him signing long term with them so they might as well trade him.

I'm hoping we ditch Bieksa and go for Pitkanen and resigning Hoff. Bieksa was great this year but I think it has way too much to do with Hamhuis.

He might be convinced to take the same he got this season as the cap hit and sign a very long contract. He's not getting any younger.

this is true to some extent but breaking up the best pairing we had all year long is a pretty big gamble. among our UFA's, bieksa is a top priority to be re-signed.

BTW: what happened to our thank/fail buttons & stats? :(

dlo 06-20-2011 09:12 AM

Meh, I was thinking about its hamhuis that makes bieksa so good lol, but him wanting a raise, which obviously will happen is something i think gillis wouldnt gamble on..

and yeah, is rs chat gone too :'(

I dunno about that amount... sure, Lidstrom is one of the best defenseman ever, but wouldn't you want to free up some cap space money to be spent elsewhere?

b0unce. [?] 06-20-2011 09:31 AM

lidstrom honestly has another good 2 years left him. he obviously doesn't play as well as he did in his earlier days in the late 90's/early 2000's, but hes definitely still one of the best currently. fuck he's too good. like on a shitty for lidstrom playing is like god mode for some other players. lidstrom is incredibly durable too.
