Speaking of Giroux and JVR, did you guys think it was a wise decision to lean on these young guys + Bryz , Schenn and Simmonds et al instead of Richards + Carter? Want to ask again given that JVR has a contract ext and his importance has therefore been emphasized.

Well if the stories of Richards and Carter partying and being a distraction to the team, I rather have the young guys.

Plus the flyers has many veterans to lean on. Briere, Hartnell, Pronger.

AFAIK, Richards + Carter were "cancers" in the locker room with their constant partying and what not.

The Flyers couldn't win the cup, and the year after that were swept 4-0 in the Bruins. It was clear Richards + Carter couldn't get the deal done.

Now with the acquisitions of Bryzgalov, Schenn, Simmonds, Couturier etc most of these guys haven't hit their prime yet [especially Schenn]. With the younger team they have, IMO the Flyers are more focused towards their future. It'll be interesting to see how they do this year.

Yes lets get this season going already.

There were a lot of highs and some really horrible lows this past season but the leafs were one of the better teams in the second half of the season. Its really an entirely different team now. This is most highlighted with the departure of Kaberle making Schenn the longest serving current player on the team. I can't wait for the season to start so the progression can continue. I am finally starting to feel a bit of cautious optimism that has been dwindling since the lockout.

Training camp is almost underway! Damn, time went by pretty fast. Gonna admit though, didn't follow Canucks or NHL in general too much this summer. Guess I was too upset that we came so close yet so far.
