Making the playoffs and performing means winning the Stanley Cup. Had the Leafs won the Cup in the modern NHL, I'd say they were a better franchise than the Canucks, but in their case, no. Franchises that have won can talk as much trash as they like, because they've done something the Canucks have never done.

Also, since you like to say at least they've won the cup, the islanders also had a dynasty run during the early 80s (which is still more recent than any leafs cup run).
