$4m for an 80 point player is a steal. Even if he puts up 50, he's still making less than...I dunno...Dustin Penner.

shawn79 09-16-2011 02:52 AM

on top of that, selanne is still the most clutch player in the game...

punkwax 09-16-2011 06:49 AM

^ bold statement.. Remember who scored the goal - shorthanded with 1:56 left nonetheless - to force OT in game 7 vs the Hawks.

Love him or hate him, Toews is as clutch as they get.

So this hockey pool I'm in I can pick either Crosby or Nash. This could make or break it what should I do???

I'd go with Nash to be on the safe side.

Crosby: Post-concussion = slow start
Nash: Playing with Carter = Predicted boosted point production

Expresso 09-16-2011 08:20 AM

I definitely do not expect Crosby to be at 100% when he comes back. You also have to consider that he will probably be back in November or even later.

In the end, I think Crosby will be about equal or a bit less to Nash in points. But you might as well pick Nash cause he can start earning you other stats right away unless you are straight up just points.

Keeper league take Crosby, one year pool take Nash.

From TSN homepage:

Quote:

On the first day of training camp, it appears Sidney Crosby has moved one step closer to returning. According to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, Crosby has been cleared to practice without contact as he continues to recover from post-concussion symptoms.
Even with that headline teaser above...they will NOT rush him back.

TSN projections have Crosby getting 80 points in 55 games :fulloffuck: and Nash getting 69 in 76.

What if Crosby doesn't come back until the allstar break?

MR_BIGGS 09-16-2011 08:31 AM

I mentioned some pages back about me trading Price for Duchene in the keeper pool I'm in. Well it didn't happen. Ends up the guy traded Duchene for 4th overall pick this year and a conditional first round pick next season. The condition being if the pick is not in the top 8, he also gets a 1st round pick for 2013. So essentially 3 high first round picks for Duchene.

Who do you guys take between Zibanejad and Strome in a keeper pool?? After seeing what Zibanejad has done in rookies camp I think he'll play 2nd line centre this season. Who has more of a ceiling?

shawn79 09-16-2011 08:46 AM

take zibanejad.

strome is a center and islanders already have depth in it not sure if strome can crack second line ahead of josh bailey who recent signed a new contract

okposo tavares grabner
moulson baily parenteau
comeau neilsen nino

that leaves strome on 3rd or 4th at best, he'll likely go back to juniors

He is but he isn't ready for training camp. I think they expect him back in November.

that's what they always say though. The player and teams are pretty much obligated to say positive things.

spoon.ek9 09-16-2011 10:33 AM

well i guess this really is CoHo's best chance to make it then eh?

i swear i saw kesler saying he'd be ready for training camp :lol

Doughty turns down $60 Mil over 9 years. It’s said he’s concerned about the length of the contract. He remains unsigned and is still in discussions with the Kings but not expected to show up at training camp Friday. He’s said to be looking for something of 6-8 years and more than 6.8 Mil range per year.

Real_ESPNLeBrun: Just got off phone with Kings GM Dean Lombardi. Reiterated that he feels Kings have made their best possible offer (7 years x $6.8 M AAV)

That what he said a couple of months ago and then a recent interview he back tracked. He wouldn't be ready by the season opener and would take it day by day.

WTF @ Doughhty, his agent is harsh playing hard ball. Would be pretty exciting if a trade happens lol!

Ronin 09-16-2011 02:02 PM

What the fuck!? 6.67m a year for 9 years is a fair deal. If he's going to get that much as a young player, you have to be prepared to give up a couple years of unrestricted free agency.

dbaz 09-16-2011 03:04 PM

kings issued a statement saying for everyday he misses now their offer will decrease by 25,000maximum a day lol

spoon.ek9 09-16-2011 04:45 PM

lol wtf.... is that really smart giving a franchise player an ultimatum like that?

well hes not at training camp and thats included in the salary. do you expect him to miss training camp and for the kings to still pay himm his full salary if he decides to sign later?

shawn79 09-16-2011 06:10 PM

Oilers should give an offersheet to doughty since they are already done rebuilding. Have a dynasty running then blow team up which will rev up enough doughty to build a new arena in Edmonton

7.5mill 5yrs; hit and run away with a few stanley cups :troll:

spoon.ek9 09-16-2011 06:14 PM

no way! i wanna see doughty and hall's rivalry continue heh. doughty turned into somewhat of a cheap shot bitch going after hall.
