Watched bit of the game tonight but I was too caught up in baseball. Epic, EPIC finish to the regular season and a big LULZ @ the Redsox.

InvisibleSoul 09-28-2011 10:57 PM

Yeah, what happened in baseball tonight is almost unbelievable.

The way TSN presented the highlights sucked. They just showed the Red Sox game first, then showed the Tampa Bay game after that. They hardly even played up the fact Tampa Bay came back from down 7-0.

Sportsnet did it awesome. First showed start of Red Sox highlights, showing them up 3-2 before the rain delay. Then they cut over to the Tampa Bay highlights, showing them going down 7-0, then coming back to make it 7-6, then tying the game with two outs in the bottom of the 9th. They cut back to Red Sox highlights again after rain delay, to show them blowing the game in the 9th inning and losing. They cut back over to Tampa Bay highlights, showing them seeing the Red Sox lose just before Evan Longoria comes back to the plate in extra innings and hitting the walk off home run.

Epic.

Armind 09-28-2011 11:07 PM

Cool story bro.

spideyv2 09-28-2011 11:15 PM

I'm not trying to knock the sport since I used to watch it back when I was 11/12ish

but what makes baseball games so appealing? Some teams in the states draw 45000+ people on a nightly basis. I mean, wtf? 90% of the time, the shit is so boring and dull to watch..lol even Bieksa said something like that on OTR

DanHibiki 09-28-2011 11:44 PM

^I believe it's purely tradition as one of the oldest games in sports ever.

anyways this is HOCKEY THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hamhuis will be at the Canucks Team store on Robson tomorrow to sign autographs to the first 150 fans starting at 4 pm.
To guarantee a spot in line, they are handing out vouchers starting at 10 am.

From their FB page.

The finer points of the game.............. LOLOLOL

I watch it. There's something about being at a baseball game. Canadians baseball games on a weekday, FTW. Skip work and have a great day at the ballpark.

To each their own..........

Opening night guess.

I dont mind baseball when it comes to watching their highlights, but to sit through an entire buttfuck numbing game? No

I think its just popular because its an American pasttime. Its so ingrained in their culture. If you have people do something for an extended period of time, they are bound to stay loyal to it no matter how boring it is.

MG1 may have a point, seeing a game live may be different than on TV. I havn't been to a game since i was 8, and i was bored as fuck then as well too.

Lets stop this baseball talk and get back to what matters: hockey

All homerism aside. Coho has looked good, but not good enough for a second line spot.
Ebbett has looked better. I guess Coho needs 1 more season in chicago

Baseball during the regular season sucks
For whatever reason, baseball in October is somewhat interesting.
Then you have the international baseball tournaments like the World Baseball Classic which has this intensity. The feeling is ever so great when the stacked Americans full of their MLB pros gets destroyed by Japan and Korea

In fact, the World Baseball Classic was created in conjunction with the MLB, yet the Americans have never won, or placed in the top three since its introduction in 2006

Japan is the ONLY world baseball champion LLOL

back to HOCKEY

I posted this on the twitter thread..but its hockey related

Hello Sunny,

Thanks for your recent email. Our apologies if you missed any of last
night's Canucks game. Our schedule for the night on Sportsnet Pacific
was to have The Phillies/Braves game at 4 pm pt and the Canucks game was
scheduled at 7 pm pt. The baseball game went into extra innings and, as
is our policy, we stayed with the baseball game until it was over.

We were aware that this situation could happen so we made the Canucks
game available on the Sportsnet ONE companion channel, Sportsnet
Vancouver Hockey from the beginning. Unfortunately, certain providers
were unable to make that channel available to their customers last
night. Here is a link to our page about Sportsnet ONE which includes
the details on where you can find Sportsnet Vancouver Hockey in the
future.

www.sportsnet.ca/one/

Once again, please accept our apologies. Your email has been forwarded
to our Senior Management team so we can look at ways to avoid these
kinds of situations in the future.

Sincerely
Jim LaChapelle

Thing is this. I liked the approach the Canucks took this preseason
in fact, im starting to agree with some of the media on CoHo

The guy albeit was put into a position where he cannot excel to what his resume speaks of. So what do you do? Embrace the position you are in and work to show some sort of a skillset towards it. Its called development for a reason.

Ryan Kesler was given a similar role, correct me if I'm wrong, but he was placed in a similar position and then showed his compete so he adapted to the change and now he's a selke winner.

Maybe Coho needs to suck it up and stop whining

albeit, the team wasnt as good when Kesler was starting out.

spoon.ek9 09-29-2011 01:58 PM

it's pretty clear what situation coho is in and at this point it wouldn't be hard to imagine him spending another season in the minors. i just figured with this being his first injury free summer, maybe this would be *the* season he makes a statement. i just feel bad for the guy and of course for our team since he's our top prospect heh.
