Hodgson's been injured quite a bit since being drafted by Vancouver, however, playing in the AHL he's racked up some good numbers. Gotta remember, the current Canucks organization has a succession program in place where they do lots of exposure for up and coming players instead of throwing them into the game and let them sink or swim. I can see Cody fighting for a spot on the team next season, but anchoring a role would depend on how's been doing with the Canucks program. Remember, we drafted Bieksa in 2001....look at how long it took to develop....

tanner glass was the only stable 4th line player all year long (other than his injury). it was clear that we again had no 4th line that could contribute significantly in the playoffs. i do however like what we saw from oreo. glass-hodgson-oreskovich for 11/12?

Thats not true, the Nucks odds were 7:1 at the start of the season. 3:1 was start of the playoffs.

Our odds are actually better this year.:fuckyea:

I think Higgins by far is the most underrated of the additions we got.

platinum300 06-16-2011 08:06 PM

What the 'Nucks are missing are some power forwards.

RRxtar 06-16-2011 08:10 PM

Higgins was a good pick up. I wasnt sold on him based on his recent history but hes a solid 3rd line winger I think. Not 2nd line caliber tho. I really hope Lappy is back next year.

Anyone really wish AV tried a line of Hansen - Kesler - Burrows just to get something going in game 6 or 7??

Ikkaku 06-16-2011 08:28 PM

^ reunion of our awesome shut down line? fuck yeah! too bad AV didn't seem to want to try anything new and just watched it slip away while chewing his gum

Iceman_2K 06-16-2011 08:30 PM

Maybe its time to bring up Shirokov and see if he can fit in the 4th line.

Joel Ward, Higgins, and Kopecky would be on my top list for fowards.

Tim Budong 06-16-2011 08:48 PM

I dont even know where to begin with CoHo
The promise of him being a superstar just doesn't seem like its gonna be with Vancouver.

Like others have said, if he's willing to play wing with Kes and Mace, probably. but he's got a lot to learn to play on that line. QUICK TO THE BACKCHECK. thats something he's gotta do to crack that top 6

Iceman_2K 06-16-2011 08:51 PM

Thats assuming Joel Ward doesn't get resigned by Nashville. Hope Kopecky wants to leave Chicago.

CoHo had half a season in the AHL and a handfull of games in the big league after missing like 2 years with back problems. you cant do anything with back problems, not even work out. remember how long it took Kesler to break out? not saying CoHo is the same kind of player as Kes, but give him another year. he showed signs of that hockey sense we saw in the Jrs and have been promised about. he just needs to get his speed up. he improved a ton over in the short time he was up

murd0c 06-16-2011 08:56 PM

My first post!!!! Awe shit its on we are going to win the cup :troll:

Iceman_2K 06-16-2011 08:56 PM

CoHo needs to chill and stick with the program. The guy was drafted in 2008 - guys like Edler and Hansen were drafted in 2004 and we started seeing their play in the 2009-2010. CoHo's got a few more years before he's gonna see regular lineup work, assuming he doesn't go off to another team.

I think he needs a few more years to mature and learn. Having him come up once in a while to see what the big guys are doing is all part of the process, but he's gotta accept that its part of the process.

I just don't see any room for Hodgson on our roster. He's not a 4th line player, and playing him on the 4th line would just kill his development.
I feel bad for the kid

sell_item_604 06-16-2011 09:06 PM

get brad richards

spideyv2 06-16-2011 09:06 PM

IIRC, the blackhawks were pretty lucky with injuries last year. Didn't they have a full roster for the finals?

Iceman_2K 06-16-2011 09:09 PM

Why would you feel bad for him? Its not like he's being benched...he's just playing in the AHL to develop him as a player..if a recent draft like CoHo should be playing, so should Jordan Shroeder, and Sergei Shirokov should have been in our lineup years ago.

Not sure - is it posted online anywhere? Would be interesting to see, and see how Boston survived in terms of injuries. I think Boston got through the playoffs relatively unscathed, other than Horton.

It sucks our roster started to deflate during the later part of the playoffs. I hate playing the IF game, but IF we had a full roster, matched up against boston's full roster..there would definitely be a different outcome.

Because our Top 3 Centre positions seem to be locked up for the next few years. Especially with Hank and Kesler signed for another 4 years.
Schroeder had a pretty horrible season with Manitoba last year too, hopefully he ends up panning out..

As with Shirokov, I don't see him cracking our line up anytime soon

fliptuner 06-16-2011 09:20 PM

Present!!!

Let's hope Gillis makes some great signings again.

Iceman_2K 06-16-2011 09:38 PM

It'll take the next few years to develop these guys before they can play the Top center positions. Keep in mind, after a player is drafted, its more than 5 years before they're developed enough to really be able to handle the position. CoHo was drafted in 08, and Schroeder in 09. I don't see either coming up and being in the lineup regularly anytime soon. Shirokov, I see him coming up a bit more in the coming years, at least a lot more than CoHo.

do some of you guys not know how to use the multi button or are you just trying to up your # of posts in this thread? :lol

anyways, i really hope CoHo can earn a spot on the roster. it's unfortunate that AV basically through the kid under the bus after his comments regarding CoHo getting second opinions about his back problems. These were second opinions that turned out to be CORRECT by the way. AV never did apologize publicly for this but I sure hope he did in private.

Meh, USA colours... more like going back to what colours they used to be.

Which is why I don't mind them keeping their Jets name and their old colours.
