I think that is a pretty fair deal, with a pretty good chance he outperforms that deal but then again that is pretty much what I say with him every year. I think with him, he just needs to find some consistency his pre/post all stars are like two different worlds he went from 15 pts in 41 and a -14 to 26 pts in 31 and +12, if he comes anywhere near that 2nd half its a great deal imo.

dbaz 06-23-2011 07:33 PM

wonder what they are going to do with the d because if they resign erhoff and bieksa i dont see ballard staying. especially with tanev emerging and av's favorite rome still signed for another year.

d1 06-23-2011 07:38 PM

And people thought Bieksa would be gone after getting Hamhuis and Ballard last year..

And he would be if Salo didn't have his floorball injury...

MR_BIGGS 06-23-2011 08:07 PM

With Dan Hamuis having surgery he may not be ready for the start of training camp. That is exactly what happened to Ballard this year. He didn't get to train in the off-season and it showed all season. I hope this doesn't happen to Hamhuis, but I think he will have a real slow start in the beginning of the season.

Ballard on the other hand, with no injuries will go into training camp healthy and ready to go, and I think he will compete for a top 4 dman position.

I wonder what kind of top 6 forward Gillis is looking for to play with Kesler. It would be nice to get a bigger guy with hands (don't grow on trees though).

murd0c 06-23-2011 08:10 PM

I personally think a player like Brooks Laich would be perfect to play with Kesler

mb_ 06-23-2011 08:26 PM

Wouldn't mind Joel Ward tbh

Either Oscar Klefbom, Connor Murphy, or Vladislav Namestnikov.

Source: Canucks Off-Season Plan

MyNHLDraft also projects us to pick Murphy with the 28th pick.

SkinnyPupp 06-23-2011 08:52 PM

So glad I'm not a Flyers fan right now

Out of left field, but apparently Erik Cole is UFA.

murd0c 06-23-2011 09:02 PM

I'm not a fan of Erik Cole at all

Oh god please no Erik Cole.

I believe he's done as a productive player.

When has Kesler played wing?

thanks. i lol'd at this:

Maxim Lapierre only contributed one point in 19 games after arriving in a trade from Anaheim, but he was effective (and highly annoying to opponents) in the postseason. With Malhotra limited, Lapierre's emergence was crucial to the Canucks' run to the Final.

When he's on the 1st unit for the PP? :lol

I'm just saying. IF B.Richards was on our team, Kes COULD be bumped to the wing to have Richards feed him pucks.

It doesn't hurt to have someone that has won the Cup and the playoff experience in the locker room. Cole's a leader that many players in the locker room can "look up to".

Obviously I meant besides the PP.

IMO if a guy wins the Selke by a landslide, you don't just stick him on the wing. We'll see I guess.

Schnieder + Ballard for Shane Doan

yay or nah?

Phoenix is gonna need a goalie probably since Bryzgalov is leaving plus they may not resign Jovo, but probably a trade Phoenix will never accept

HAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

What the fuck kind of trade offer is that!?

Phoenix should kill themselves if they don't take that deal and the Canucks should if they even think about offering that.

Doan is decent but he's 34. He peaked 4 years ago. He's on the decline. He's also making $4.55 and will be a UFA next year.

Schnoo is the best goalie in the league that isn't a starter and Ballard just didn't fit in here but he'd be a top 4 on another team. He's 29.

really?

Ronin 06-23-2011 09:58 PM

I would rather sign Erik Cole as a UFA than fucking trade Schneider for Shane Doan.

Shit, I'd rather sign Alex Tanguay or Ville Leino or even Jussi Jokinen (at least the Canucks won't suck at shootouts...) to play with Kesler.

Just Ballard and a mid-round pick for Shane Doan would be a good deal for the Canucks but Schneider should bag us at least a high first rounder or at least a good defensive prospect and a decent second liner.

I would've jizzed in my pants if the Canucks got Giroux for Schneider.
