Meh. Never a comparison for me. I've always had a sense of the difference between Crosby and Ovie's ilk. Lots of people I know who know their hockey agree. Its about character, not stats and flashiness / highlight reel goals.
Look at Bure and Linden. Who would you build your team around? Not taking anything away from Bure - I'm a huge Bure fan - or Ovie for that matter, just saying, its character people who are true leaders in the game.

Well that's more opinion/bias than anything.
At least now we have facts to base it on.

Pens are scary. They were doing well already this season and that was without sid of course.
he's going to make Neal a 224232 goal scorer

this debate ended two seasons ago
and solidified last year
I'll have to agree but only at the moment.
I still think OV's still a premiere player but in all fairness, things look like a mess over at the Washington camp, and looks to get worse season after season. Backstrom was under fire last year... Semin continues this year, Green, the grinder dramas, the coaching power struggle (or so the media says it is).
Hat's off to Sidney though but considering how well the team kept it together without Malkin @ times and the stretch w/o Crosby, looks like the Pittsburgh camp is a tight camp under Bylsma. Bear in mind, Pittsburgh didn't hesitate to pull the trigger on Therien (in lieu of Bylsma) a season after the SCF loss. Pittsburgh was looking at a downward spiral as well until the brass decided to make that coaching change.
Anyways, definitely Crosby > OV for now, but it'd be nice to see WSH correct their ship.
The final sale price of the Dallas Stars and half of American Airlines Center to Tom Gaglardi resulted in a huge haircut for creditors of Hicks Sports Group and the National Hockey League team.
A bankruptcy court judge approved the Vancouver businessman’s bid last week for an enterprise value of $240 million. Gaglardi is president of Northland Properties, a hotel, restaurant and construction company in Western Canada that was founded by his father, Bob. Last year, it was reported that Northland does $600 million in annual revenue.
Gaglardi’s purchase includes just $50 million of cash. Meanwhile creditors, who had net debt of $290 million tied to HSG, the team and its 50% stake in the arena, got destroyed. First lien creditors got about 75 cents on the dollar and the second liens got virtually zero. In addition, the priming loans (to fund operating losses), accumulated interest and bankruptcy fees cost creditors over $50 million.
After debt service and depreciation, the Stars lost $38 million during their the last fiscal year and $92 million over the last three seasons.

Its true, the caps are a big mess
and Semin was scratched last night I believe
Something's gotta give, and that could very well be Green or Backstrom before Semin
or perhaps the reason he took a year off is to completely recover 100% so one more hit wont be a worry. i imagine repeat concussions causing significant long term problems is when you get a second one on top of one that you haven't recovered from yet. perhaps getting a concussion after recovering 100% from a previous one, is no different than getting one as if you hadn't gotten one in the first place.
plus sid isnt the easiest guy to hit in the first place.
Sonick is a genius. I won't go into detail what's so great about his post. But it's damn good!

Wasn't that long ago when the majority of people here were making fun of Sid the Kid. Cry baby this, cry baby that. Made me sick. Was so good to see him score the winning goal in the Gold Medal Game.
On my cross continent trip this summer, I ended up in some neighbourhood in NS. Went to the library there to get free WiFi access. My son goes upstairs to check out the community centre. On our way out of town, he tells me that he saw a whole bunch of hockey memorabilia on display. It was Sid Crosby's stuff - everything from the Olympics and the Stanley Cup runs. Pissed me off that I missed it. I almost disowned him right there and then for not telling me while we were in the building. LOL. He took some blurry pictures. Oh well. I'm still kicking myself for not going to the Hockey Hall of Fame on the trip.

Personally I'm still not a Crosby fan, I hate the way he whines and complains so much on the ice. That being said, he is hands down the best player in the league and there is no denying his skill, personally I'm just not a fan of his.
