Burrows infact stayed an extra hour and half JUST TO SIGN EVERYTHING | burrows is such a monster.
he really appreciates where he is because he didnt take the easy road getting there.

Supposedly, Ballard and Bieska is in tonight. Rome is out and Sulzer will take his place.
Mason will not play tonight.

undrafted after being average in junior. signed with an ECHL team. didnt impress much there. scouted and played in the AHL (with moose) off and on. eventually full time with the moose. scouted by the canucks. invited to training camp but sent back to moose. called up. took a couple years to break out on the canucks.
vs.
top player in junior. drafted early. big show

Again I understand what you're saying. He worked hard to get to where he is despite all the signs of him most likely never making it to the NHL. But he overcame them all and stuck with it. For that reason, he's kept his humbleness.
But to say a player being #1 in his junior year and getting drafted high is an "easy road" is absurd. Ever thought that the reason why they are #1 is BECAUSE they worked so hard?

The biggest problem with 18/19yr olds are that these kids are still growing into their body
The most skilled players can still have trouble adjusting to the bigleagues
Most kids that come out of the draft and jump to the NHL right away is that the kids still need to find their playing weight and what works. Adjustments are huge, and growth into the body cannot be forced. Just because you are 6'4 220 doesnt mean jackshit. A perfect example is Butthurtfugly, I believe he said that playing at 260 was terrible, 230 just didnt work, some random 24xlbs works.
Not saying that the kids can't adjust, its just a totally different path to adjusting to the big leagues
Improper development in terms of nutrition and how each players individual body works could hinder growth and could cause injuries.
Paired with the fact that some kids could prefer to go with an education first b4 the NHL is also a LIFE CHANGING DECISION. something these kids could fall back on in case
this is why the NBA changed their draft rules to not allow kids to jump from highschool to the NBA

O'BRIEN 2.0: Former Canuck defenceman Shane O'Brien is playing lots of minutes and playing well in Denver. Signed as a free-agent by the Avalanche, O'Brien had seven points in 21 games and was plus-one while averaging 19: 21 of ice time.He said he had a hard time watching the Canucks get bullied by the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup Final.
"I guess I'm a little bit old school," O'Brien said. "There was a part of me that was thinking if I was still there - if certain guys were still there - that probably wouldn't have gone down. Boston has a big, tough team and that was the advantage they had over Vancouver.
"Just going by guys I talk to around the league, a majority of them said they were surprised there wasn't a bigger pushback [by the Canucks]. But they preach discipline and they think if they can out-discipline you and get power-play chances, they're going to beat you."
| shawn thorton as 4th line enforcer made a difference in the scf
weise as a 4th liner is only good to play here until raymond returns, hes an AHLer at best. Never seen somebody who looks away or lost as much fights as weise in Vancouver.

from their smallest guy, marchand, to their biggest guy the abomination chara

But to say a player being #1 in his junior year and getting drafted high is an "easy road" is absurd. Ever thought that the reason why they are #1 is BECAUSE they worked so hard? | what im saying is he spent more time working his ass off clawing his way up thru the system to get to the NHL than a perhaps more hockey gifted player who takes the standard route thru the draft.
if you take 2 guys who played the same hockey growing up and were both alright in junior but not standouts, one guy gets drafted and makes camp and the other guy goes undrafted. the guy who goes undrafted has a shitload more work to do to get to the show than the other guy.
thats why hes humble, hes more likely just another guy who worked hard to get to where he is. hes not a guy whos been told since he was 16 that hes going to be in the NHL.
