if you take 2 guys who played the same hockey growing up and were both alright in junior but not standouts, one guy gets drafted and makes camp and the other guy goes undrafted. the guy who goes undrafted has a shitload more work to do to get to the show than the other guy.
thats why hes humble, hes more likely just another guy who worked hard to get to where he is. hes not a guy whos been told since he was 16 that hes going to be in the NHL. | I don't think that is necessarily true though, you are evaluated again at every level of hockey, getting drafted is just part one of a long process. Every player has to work hard to clay their way thru the system, regardless of draft status.The reason drafted players usually make it to the big leagues before undrafted is just that usually they are the better talent to begin with and worked just as hard. Just take a look at guys like Filatov I remember when he was drafted there was all this hype and blah blah, look where he is now and from what I recall at every stop for him there were questions about his work ethic. |
