Jaybo unfortunately was/is overrated by the entire hockey world when he was a UFA. Thank god the canucks didnt take him...and his 6.7 million dollar cap hit.

Trading Phaneuf for a bag of pucks was also horrible. Everyone kept talking about how Ian White coming back from Toronto was one good thing coming back the other way as he was severely underrated. Now Calgary lets him loose...and hes doing decently in Detroit (although that could be hes playing with future HOFer Lidstrom)

I don't mean to derail the convo but Ovechkin is averaging around 18:46 a game, Backstrom with 18. That's 2 minutes less than 2 years ago, when they were actually putting up points. I know they're playing more defensively as a team but why is Brooks Laich averaging the same amount of icetime? WTF, your star players need to be playing heavy minutes.
