sorry to say this shawn but you have no single clue of what signing a 10 year contract really is and you are oblivious on current trade rumors

New coach sending a message
Alexander Semin, Roman Hamrlik and Mike Green all scratched for the Capitals.

Gh0stRider 12-05-2011 04:16 PM

uhhh semin and green are injured

Green resumed skating of late, but he remains out indefinitely until the Capitals are comfortable he is healthy enough to skate in a game situation.

Semin will not play due to a shoulder injury, The Washington Post reports.

I like Jay Feaster's response to the Iginla rumours

So how does the playoff work with the West since East is missing 2 teams?

Still top 8 for both conferences?

EDIT:
Quote:

The top four teams in each Conference would qualify for the playoffs. The first-place team would play the fourth-place team; the second-place team would play the third-place team. The four respective Conference champions would meet in the third round of the Playoffs, with the survivors playing for the Stanley Cup.

Ronin 12-05-2011 05:41 PM

Top four from each of the 4 conferences. Divisional playoffs for the first two rounds and then the remaining teams are re-seeded.

At least that's how I understand it.

DanHibiki 12-05-2011 05:44 PM

I don't like the 4 conference idea.

:fuckthatshit: Once again, the Canucks are in a shitty division.. even better now with the new playoff format too! :alonehappy:

Official from NHL: The top four teams in each Conference qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. by shitty do u mean the competition?
I dont expect the California teams are a walk in the park

we shall see how it works
14 teams out east, the worst is the ones along the atlantic

Actually you're right, most of those teams (minus SJ) had a shitty start, but are beginning to put it together. Hell, even the Avs are winning again.

I do like the fact that all teams play at least 2 games against non division teams. No more waiting 3 or 4 or whatever seasons to see certain teams come to town.

SkinnyPupp 12-05-2011 06:00 PM

I guess the Vancouver/Chicago rivalry will be put on hold as well. Probably for the best :heckno:

Thats actually some what of an issue
In my memory, the most entertaining Western Conference rivalry has to come from Colorado/Detroit in the 90s and then the Hawks/Canucks now

I guess if Calgary was somewhat of a decent competition, then it could be worth it to call the Canucks/Flames a decent rivalry.

All the good rivalries are out east, Flyers/Rangers. Pens/Flyers. Habs/Bruins

they will now be ale to even build up more of a hated rivalry.

Guess u can say the west got shafted, but for TV issues, having more games in the pacific timezone benefits local tv deals

what does this mean?
i'm confused.

so there are mini playoffs in each conference?
and then the winner of that goes to the show?

ie.
top four in "Conference A" play off
top four in "Conference B" play off
top four in "Conference C" play off
top four in "Conference D" play off

Then winner of "Conference A" play Winner of "Conference D"
Then winner of "Conference B" play Winner of "Conference C"

Then those winners = Stanley Cup Finals?

Or is it saying that there will only be a four team playoff? (which would be really gay)

I'm really confused here

SkinnyPupp 12-05-2011 06:33 PM

The playoff layout after the conferences hasn't been determined yet

woob 12-05-2011 06:59 PM

wtf is this shit... the "North-South-East" division in blue:

still waiting for pics:alonehappy:

Ronin 12-05-2011 07:46 PM

They wanted to keep the NY teams and two Pennsylvania teams in the same conference.

They don't really get shafted for travel. Not by a lot. They've had easy travel for years...fuck 'em if that extra hour makes a difference.

Mercy 12-05-2011 07:51 PM

lol burke complaining about more travel.

on tsn they said thats its possible for the eastern confrences to meet each other in the finals... its the only thing i dont like about this set up because i like the east vs west SCF set up.

also because we have 16 teams on the "western" side maybe we'll see 2 more teams added to the eastern side?

woob 12-05-2011 07:54 PM

^ thoughts are that if Phoenix gets relocated, it would be easy to move them to one of the Eastern conferences for a 15/15 split. I personally think that expanding with two more teams would dilute the league far too much. Some teams would have a bottom six of pure plugs because there would be less talent to go around.
