Bouncing Bettys 12-05-2011 07:58 PM

I've read speculation that the NHL plans on moving Phoenix to Quebec or somewhere else and placing them in the East. Maybe Detroit ends up in the East afterall.

mb_ 12-05-2011 08:08 PM

k wait.. so only 4 teams (2 rounds) of playoffs? or am I the only one that's confused as fuck

nevermind: reading comprehension > me. thought it said "top 4 teams" LOL :failed: was thinking MLB :fuckthatshit:

I still favor east/west, guess we'll see how it turns out lol

sonick 12-05-2011 08:10 PM

4 teams per conference, 4 conferences, 16 teams.

noots 12-05-2011 08:30 PM

It's been rumoured that once all 4 conference champions are set, they will be seeded based on points between those teams. So it could potentially be an eastern team playing a western team in the 3rd round and play another eastern team in the finals. Nothing has been confirmed yet though.

Rivalries will change over time and the new playoff structure will build/renew/intensify existing rivalries.

SkinnyPupp 12-05-2011 08:42 PM

And I would expect Phoenix to move soon too, so that will change things up again most likely.

So... My wife won tickets to the game against Colorado, we have a barely 2 month old baby, anybody else been to the game with a baby?
I'm guessing other than dressing them super warmly, earmuffs are also recommended?

What is the age limit for a child to enter without a ticket?

Children aged two and over require a separate ticket of admission and are required to sit in their itcketed seat. Proof of child's age may be required prior to entry.

if you look at the lay out..........if you look at how far edmonton has to travel to play phoenix, then the north eastern canadian teams can travel to florida, no problem.

also, if phoenix moves out east, i wouldnt mind absorbing the jets into our division......would like to see some jets games :)

Good, I can't stand Tootoo, such a dirty player.

And Lucic got nothing? Sure there's precedent with his hit, but this might show some bias between the Bruins and everyone else in the league...somethings fishy. Tootoo pretty much ran Miller the same way, but just by looking at the reply at least he was pressured by Ehrhoff (I think), doesn't justify him running over Miller though.

i didnt read about the the explanation of the tootoo hit

but here is the thing, Running a goalie in the crease and outside the crease
Tootoo is also a repeat offender, i dont think lucic has been suspended before

Shanahan really dropped the ball on the Lucic-Miller incident. All he had to do was suspend Lucic 2-3 games to show that hitting the goalie is not acceptable.

But hey, the Director of Hockey Operations's son is on that team...

i'd like to see jets games as well, but i doubt that it'd happen. if anything they'd have an 8 team conference out east and just leave ours at 7

add another to the list of things the bruins won't get suspended for.

InvisibleSoul 12-06-2011 11:56 AM

Aren't the teams in the 8-team conferences at a distinct disadvantage? They have to be one of four teams out of eight to make the playoffs, whereas the other conferences it's only one of four teams out of seven.

I can potentially see a situation where the 5th place team in a eight team conference has a better record than the 4th place team in a seven team conference...

well I think the main difference here is miller was inside his crease where as in the lucic hit he was welll out of it.

That was a big problem with the playoff structure in the 80s and 90s after all of the expansion. It IS going to happen, regardless if the 5th place team is in a 7 or 8 team conference. You will also see many teams with bad records make it to the playoffs. The Canucks from 1978-1991 NEVER had a winning record (under 500) but made the playoffs 9 times. It may not happen as often in today's league but fans around the league will still bitch about it.

Goalies are NOT protected by if they leave the crease, meaning YES u can run the goalie behind the boards or along the wall. remember Hordichuk runnin Turco a few years back, Or maybe Gaborik/Hasek

its ALL LEGAL
if a penalty was to be given, it is counted as interference, or charging and it is a 2min penalty

skippynixx 12-06-2011 02:27 PM

LAPPY!

DanHibiki 12-06-2011 02:31 PM

Can someone explain to me the reasons for this structure change? What's wrong with the way it is now? Swap Detroit for Winnipeg. Done.

But here's the thing, goalies aren't fair game either way. If you compare the two incidents, Lucic could have let up while Tootoo had pressure behind him. The only difference being the position of Miller, but either way, it's almost unwritten that you DO NOT run the goalie (I think most hockey players understand this).

to make the play, i dont see why u wouldnt run the net.
u crash the net to stir the pot,

Tootoo did a power move towards the net, tootoo could still let it up
Lucic, as a player plays on the edge regardless how many people deny this claim. U finish the play regardless.

I dont think there is that unwritten rule of not running the goalie
it should be said that if a goalie leaves the crease, he is obliged to all the same rules.

In closing, i wouldnt have a problem with no suspension. I think RUNNING the net like the two incidents is part of the game, and has been in a long time. Its got more to do wth Ryan Miller whining like a little bitch that has stirred the press to actually focus on this issue
