I would keep Alberts, Tanner Glass depending on price, but let Rypien go (too much baggage).

I hated rypien....I think the season really turned around once he was gone....Im not a fan of glass either....but I do like alberts

Its called having a balanced lineup. Its a Coaches dream to have that much depth from your first line to your 4th.

Seriously dude? Our main 3rd line center had an injury. MANNY MANNY MANNY. Thats why Max was brought on in the first place. Since he played so well thats why he got a contract with us.

How do I know you jumped on the band wagon during the playoffs?

Laich has a shitty year last season.. I know because I had him in my pool lol.

Holy fuck I didn't know Pierre McGuire was gay lol. He's one of my favourite commentators cuz he actually knows his shit. Oh well.

Yeah, except fan on an empty-net shot after receiving that pass from Tanev. :D

Greenstoner 06-28-2011 08:35 AM

are the players still the same since moose has moved and chicago is our new farm team?

lol he has wife and kids haha

he's just weird

fliptuner 06-28-2011 08:39 AM

As much as I love watching him fight, we don't need Rypien. Glass played decent in the regular season but was a dud in the playoffs. I would definately keep Alberts, especially if the team wants size and grit.

Torres? Fuck yeah, I think he's solid in his role and has a spark that can change games. If he can do what he did last season and maybe score a few more goals, like he did in the beginning, he'd be a great signing for 1.5M or less.

Only the players that were under contract with the Canucks will be going to the Wolves.

fliptuner 06-28-2011 08:41 AM

What about the staff?

murd0c 06-28-2011 08:41 AM

I think we are not going to resign Alberts since we have Tanev. We are going to keep Ballard and have Ballard and Tanev as a pair like last year.

fuck I can't beleive we are saying last year already lol

None of the staff will be the same. They are going to hire all new staff for the Wolves. They wanted to name Kirk Muller as a head coach but didn't have enough time since everything was so last minute and he took the other job with Nashvilles farm team.

Changes to the AHL for next year

St. John's AHL team
New:WPG
Old:VAN
Chicago Wolves
New:VAN
Old:ATL
Rochester Americans
New:BUF
Old:FLA
San Antonio Rampage
New:FLA
Old:PHX
Portland Pirates
New:PHX
Old:BUF

I wonder if Anthony Stewart could fit in somehow...he's a big guy, plays RW and shoots right. He had a decent year in ATL/WPG last season. He'd be an upgrade on Glass.

I would rather go for Joel Ward...but Stewart would be an upgrade from Glass

They are both RW as well

Edit: They have Stewart listed as a LW on TSN...seems to be a typo actually

AWDTurboLuvr 06-28-2011 09:15 AM

He played both sides last year, but he's naturally a RW.

I too would rather have Joel Ward over Stewart, but he would command more salary.

Who's driving?

fliptuner 06-28-2011 09:58 AM

My biggest concern is the coaching staff.

even chris stewart was never a 30 goal scorer

spoon.ek9 06-28-2011 10:23 AM

i think we should re-sign alberts as a depth defenseman. he improved a LOT last season. it would be a waste of all that development. tanev has a bright future but the kid needs to put on some more muscle. i think he's listed as 160 or 170 lbs?

Unless there's a new development, looks as though Christian Ehrhoff is headed to UFA on July 1. VAN reportedly offered him Bieksa $$$.

It's believed VAN is now asking other NHL teams if they have interest in acquiring Ehrhoff's negotiating rights prior to July 1.
Not too surprised. Ehrhoff seemed to be looking for a payday given his repeated comments about how rare 50pt dmen are.

MR_BIGGS 06-28-2011 10:40 AM

50 point dmen don't just grow on trees...those points will be hard to recoup.

Gumby 06-28-2011 10:40 AM

*sigh* don't be greedy!

If Ehrhoff leaves, then it looks like Ballard will finally be given a chance.

Grandmaster TSE 06-28-2011 10:41 AM

even then ballard might not get a chance haha
