one thing i realized why i love this thread so much, the arguments are always valid. (not being sarcastic)
15 odd pages back someone posted a CDC link about burrows. reading CDC always makes me laugh. i'm glad we don't have that shit here :lol

i think it would be fun to catch a game and have a few drinks with you guys... AND THEN CALL MG1 FOR A RIDE HOME :fuckthatshit:

sonick 01-08-2012 12:50 AM

Sad to say I accidentally pulled a "Marchand" hip-check today myself. I was leaning in going for a poke check on a huge guy coming down the wing and he went right over me :heckno:

I only saw Lafleur when he came back with the Nordiques after retiring. By that time, he wasn't the same player anymore.

Any time I feel old, I can just look at any of MG1's references and feel like a young whippersnapper again.

There are six Canucks in that scrum too... count 'em.

It can happen with nobody illegally leaving the bench when they're in the middle of a line change.

RiceIntegraRS 01-08-2012 01:14 AM

U guys think if Raymond or Higgins begins to slump, AV will put CoHo on Keslers wing? Coho has alot more offensive upside than those 2, and it will give him a chance to play more minutes. We have Max who can easily play that 3rd line center role aswell.

I love this team, theres soo many players who can play different positions and roles.

Watch the Sportsnet highlights, Luongo made a save :troll:

shawn79 01-08-2012 01:53 AM

We matched the bruins perfectly this game but last spring the bruins battle way harder like they put their lives on the line. Sidenberg shutting down the sedins was just nasty :heckno:

i hope jordan schroeder will have similar skills as brad marchard someday minus the dirty play, that mother fucker is CLUTCH!!! I almost cried when marchand scored the first goal because it was a beauty coming from him... :okay:

SkinnyPupp 01-08-2012 08:16 AM

I finally got to watch the game

Scary shit

Yes, they won. Yippee! 4 pp goals

But imagine if they had to play 6 more games like this?

Or 20 games like this?

The Canucks are fun as hell.. but man they are a sooooooooooft team. I don't see how they get by Chicago again, let alone running into Boston in the finals :heckno:

Still a good win though, hope Salo is OK.

FerrariEnzo 01-08-2012 08:43 AM

I just watched the highlights this morning...

but whats up with that second goal?? no icing call? I read back 3 pages but didnt see any comments on it...

SkinnyPupp 01-08-2012 08:48 AM

linesmen considered it an attempted pass. Since it's subjective, you can't really argue it

That's the thing. Both teams were in the middle of line changes. At one point, there were 8 canucks on the ice but the Sedins quickly left. Lucic was on his way off and had one skate on the bench and the other on the ice still when he decided to stay on supposedly.

Salo has concussion.

Get well soon! had some fun with the article:smug:

Canucks' Salo has concussion; Marchand hearing expected

Vancouver Canucks defenceman Sami Salo has a concussion after he took a low-bridge hit from Rat-Face during Saturday's game in Boston.

Canucks general manager Mike Gillis delivered the news Sunday. Pinocchio was assessed a clipping major and game misconduct for the hit that flipped Salo over in the Boston zone late in the second period.

Play was stopped after the hit, and after a few moments Salo was able to skate off the ice on his own. The blueliner did not return to the game.

Shorty is expected to have a hearing with NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan to discuss the incident on Monday, although the meeting has not officially been set.

The 23-year-old Rat-Face has been suspended before. He was given a two-game ban last March for an elbow to the head of Columbus forward R.J. Umberger.

Long nose Pinocchio was also fined $2,500 last month for slew-footing Pittsburgh defenceman Matt Niskanen.

The Canucks earned a spirited 4-3 win over the Bruins on Saturday in the first meeting between the teams since the Stanley Cup Final last year.

spoon.ek9 01-08-2012 09:34 AM

that fucking rat. fuck you marchand.

jeedee 01-08-2012 09:52 AM

@VanCanucks: Booth medically cleared to play, return pending on him; Rome not medically cleared to play. #Canucks

@VanCanucks: Salo woke up with headache after Marchand hit, will be monitered; Duco will play Monday, with Malhotra and Weise. #Canucks

Btw is Higgins still having the hand infection? I don't think I heard or seen his number once in yesterdays game :suspicious:

Marchand to face hearing Monday - NHL.com - News

Marchand to face hearing Monday
Sunday, 01.08.2012 / 2:31 PM / News
NHL.com

Boston's Brad Marchand will have a hearing with Brendan Shanahan and the Department of Player Safety Monday.

The hearing concerns a hit Marchand delivered on Sami Salo late in the second period of the Bruins' loss to Vancouver Saturday afternoon. During the hit, Marchand collided with Salo's knee area and caused him to land hard onto the ice. Salo did not return to the game.

Marchand was assessed a five-minute major for clipping and a game misconduct on the play.

spoon.ek9 01-08-2012 10:51 AM

i wouldn't hold my breath for a suspension to any bruins player. a hearing doesn't guarantee a suspension imo. he'll get a stern finger wag and possibly a slap on the wrist with no suspension. just watch. i'll be surprised if he gets any games for it but of course it'll be a pleasant surprise. otherwise, we will all know that the boston bias still exists.

RiceIntegraRS 01-08-2012 10:57 AM

He'll get 1 game or less.

Although I'm hoping for 5, I expect 3 to occur.

FerrariEnzo 01-08-2012 11:04 AM

given his past, i think he will likely get a suspension...

if he didnt have a bad history, then most probably a slap on the ass and a fine..

And I wouldn't consider Grabner one-dimensional... he's an explosive skater, sports an exceptional goal-scoring touch, soft hands, offensive instincts, can play either wing, knows how to put the puck in the net and can excel in short-handed situations.

[well, thats what forecaster says :lol]

Who knows how Grabner would've done in Vancouver. Everything in life happens for a reason.

You know how many goals he has this year? 10. Two less then Jannick Hansen. By one-dimensional I meant this guy can't get an assist to save his life. It's my opinion though.

clowe 01-08-2012 11:20 AM

I hope Salo's concussion isn't severe but Gillis should've said it was "severe" like the Bruins did last Spring.
