Ive been a fan since Bure entered this league. The words "trade luongo" have never came out of my mouth. Ive never said "Canucks Suck" ever in my life, even in the Dark Messier Era. Ive got more post in Canucks Threads than u have just posts. Maybe you jumped on the bandwagon when the playoffs came along |
shirokov was given a qualifying offer. wouldnt be surprised if he starts on the team again this year especially if raymond is still hurting. although there is the possibility he gets traded to pitts/wash due to malkin and ovechkin wanting to play with him. hes got tons of skill just hasnt put it all together yet on north american sized ice |
If we can re-sign Salo and maybe Alberts, I'm not concerned about losing Ehrhoff too much. We would need Salo to fill in a little of that offense as I don't think Bieksa, Hamhuis or Ballard could fill that role as well. Top 8 would look like... Hamhuis - Bieksa Edler - Salo Ballard - Tanev/Rome/Alberts Weaker than last year but I'd give up a little bit of blueline depth for more depth up front. Plus no Ehrhoff means we might be able to convince Edler to take $5.5m when his deal is up. Now let's see if Gillis is happy with Ballard or ships him off and we sign someone else on the blueline. |
Salo is a good player, but his past injuries make me think he won't be playing more than 40-50 games this season..especially at his age. |
Dunno if this has been brought up but...James Wisniewski? 51 points last year...has offensive upside...about the same size as Bieksa. I wouldn't give him a raise on his $3.25 but at $3.25, that's not bad. If we could somehow convince Jonathan Ericsson, that would be a great pickup. Maybe some more physical presence on the back end with...LOL...SOB! Ian White? |
Salo when healthy is still very effective. Id honestly take Salo+his contract+his bomb than Ehrhoff+the money he wants+his several broken warrior sticks I wouldnt mind having Wisneiwski on the team. Id love to have SOB back but i dont see AV allowing it. |

I say good riddance to Ehrhoff if he wants to be a money hungry bitch like Anson Carter |
can't really blame him though |
the funny thing is we all give the player shit for wanting 1mill more but if we were put in the position we wouldn't even think twice about going after more cash. Think of it this way if he signs with another team we only traded Patrick White for him :troll: and got a 4th rounder on top of that!! |
sounds like jovo when he wanted more money. iirc he asked for 7 mil? or something in that ball park. we told him the door was open ;) |
If he really wants a cup, which is why I assume most people get into hockey, then why leave a Stanley Cup contender? Now he gets shafted to the Islanders |
appearantly 4.6 mill/yr is an insult to air hoff |
So what are we missing. Another gritty offensively minded d man with a strong power forward to play with kes? Posted via RS Mobile |
Gillis was no way going to be able to give Ehrhoff a fair deal. He's expected to make at least $5.5mil on the open market according to hockey pundits, and it's not fair to expect Ehrhoff to take likely more than a million less per season for a team he's played two (or three?) seasons with. All signs point to Detroit landing him (as all signs pointed to Hamhuis signing with the Canucks last season). With that knowledge, knowing that he could be playing for a perennial Stanley Cup contender for more than $1m than what the Canucks were offering, it would be ridiculous for him to not test the free agency market. Islanders would likely have to throw at least $6.5, $7m at him to even get his agent to remotely consider signing before July 1st. |

Ehrhoff is more than likely not gonna sign with us and make 1 Million extra somewhere else. But is that 1Million really worth giving up playing for a Stanley Cup Contender, giving up playing with people uve known and enjoyed playing with for the past 2 years. Playing in a city which has basically everything u could ever want in a city. I guess we'll find out. P.S. Ehrhoff, Ill pay your Airfare so u can join us in our Stanley Cup Victory Parade this coming season |
If someone in Winnipeg offered me $10m, I'm so fucking moving to Winnipeg. |
Twitter wars between Tony Gallagher and Bob Mackenzie: Tony Gallagher: Anyone find it disturbing TSN knows who trades whom less than five minutes after it is officially done? Talk about cosy with the league. Bob MacKenzie: @tg_gman I find that's usually what lazy reporters who don't do their job very well say to make themselves feel better. OUCH Posted via RS Mobile |
Hahaha, Gallagher deserves it. |

And that's kind of a bad example for me since thats where I was born and where my whole family lives other then my parents and sister :D |
G-man is old and out of touch |
mackenzie is one of the most respected "media" out there. I remember him saying July1st last year how he has more then 75% of the gm's numbers on speed dial. |
BURN. Why shouldn't TSN know first? They're a national news entity...not a regional one like the Province so naturally they have more clout and more direct contact with those in the know. Quote:
