Really? You expect a 60 something year old sports reporter to come out on top in a verbal battle against a Boston talk show host and Shawn Thornton? A 2 on 1 no less. Maybe you didn't hear the whole interview but TG had no idea Thornton was listening to everything he said. A pretty dick move by the Boston media I say. Sure TG said somethings he prolly regrets but I give him credit for staying on the phone line all the way till the end.

Shannon didn't do it right though. He didn't cut in enough before performing the spin,

If Shannon shoots Left instead (or if Turco was a catches right), it would have been a goal regardless.

But many the players doing these are now starting to roof them backhand as well, which just pretty much makes them impossible to save now.

They never really finished the last question. Why is Vancouver the most hated team?

Seems like out of Boston, Boston is the most hated team. Two years ago was Chicago, when they laughed at I forgot who that came back from an injury.

I dunno about the spinorama shootout move... it's pretty much impossible to stop, and the shooter stops all forward momentum!

IMO is more of a play than a shot and yeah, the puck goes backwards for a brief time.

Sports Illustrated did a players poll asking who the most overrated player is, results from 161 players (didn't mention how many votes each player got though ie.. sloppy seconds Phaneuf could've gotten 140 votes and everyone else on the list only getting 1 or 2 votes and still be on the list):

1. Dion Phaneuf
2. Alex Ovechkin
3. Scott Gomez
4. Roberto Luongo
5. Dany Heatley
6. Ilya Kovalchuk
7. Vincent Lecavalier
8. Jay Bouwmeester
9. Ryan Kesler
10. Mike Komisarek
11. Chris Pronger
12. Jarome Iginla
13. Alex Semin
14. Olli Jokinen
15. Ed Jovanovski

Lu dropped he was #1 at the all-star break last year. haha I think Crosby was on the list at that time too.

I agree with most of that list tho. Except I really think Kesler is overall one of the best players in the league. Its hard to call a Selke winner and perennial nominee who can also score 40 goals and is nearly a point per game player, and a player who single handedly won a playoff series, overrated. Im glad hes signed til 2016.

lol so all week Boston media/fans and especially Don Cherry kept calling Weise/Canucks out for chickening out or being a slimey turtle, Marchand sets the record straight

PS... Can someone fire Don Cherry already or put him into a mental hospital yet?

Quote:
Bruins forward Brad Marchand, making his regular appearance on WEEI with Mut and Merloni, revealed Wednesday that Bruins forward Shawn Thornton knew that Vancouver forward Dale Weise was not trying to fight him in the first period of Saturday’s game.

Weise extended a challenge and appeared ready to drop his gloves prior to a face-off in the opening period, but when Thornton dropped his gloves at 14:58 of the period, Weise, who had fourth Nathan Horton earlier in the period, kept them on. Though at first glance it appeared Weise was using a cheap tactic to sucker Thornton into a penalty, Marchand said Wednesday that the challenge was indeed being extended to Adam McQuaid, and that Thornton jumped in to “surprise” Weise.

“I’m going to clear it up for everyone who’s listening,” Marchand said. “It was actually a really sneaky play by Thorty. Weise was trying to fight McQuaid, who was standing behind Thornton on the point. McQuaid was going to fight him. So, Weise was yelling and saying, ‘Yeah, let’s go, let’s go.’

“Thorty just figured that at that point he’d drop his gloves and surprise Weise. And the ref just kind of heard Weise yelling ‘Let’s go’ and thought he was talking to Thorty and conning him into a penalty. Thorty kind of surprised him when Thorty dropped his gloves. Weise had no idea Thorty was going to do that.”

Added Marchand: “Him and Quaider know each other a bit from the minors and I think junior as well. They might have went at [it] there.”

Marchand’s words corroborate Weise’s story, as he told reporters prior to Monday’s game that he was trying to fight McQuaid.

Thornton expressed confusion by the play following the game, though he did suggest that Weise could have possibly been looking to fight McQuaid. Both players were given unsportsmanlike conduct minors for the ordeal.

“Oh, he said ‘let’s go’,” Thornton said after the game. “I don’t know if he was talking to me or someone else but [referee Dan O'Rourke] heard him and [referee Don] VanMassenhoven heard him and that’s why he went with me I’m assuming. I mean, you’ll have to ask him. But Donny said, “wait until the puck drops” and I said “of course”. I heard him say ‘we’ll go’, maybe he was talking to McQuaid or I have no idea. But, I thought it was, obviously thought it was go time.”

Thornton added Tuesday night on Comcast Sports Net that he wanted to fight Weise because he was among the players who jumped him when he was drastically outnumbered 3:54 into the game.

Love this article: Boston, Vancouver have very different views on toughness

They are still hanging onto this Salo cheap shot argument

Geez, they are the reigning Stanley Cup champions and are one of the best teams in the league yet they are getting all butthurt over one regular season loss to the Canucks.

Talk about sore losers.

While I agree it's a BS move.

Official NHL rule 24.2 states:

"The spin-o-rama type move where the player completes a 360° turn as he approaches the goal,
shall be permitted as this involves continuous motion."

But I'm not sure are they referring to continuous motion from the puck or the player.

The difference between the way Raymond does it compared to other players is that he seems to completely stop and slowly backhand the puck in. If you watch both his spin-o-rama attempts he doesn't seem to smoothly direct the puck in one continuous motion but rather slide it one way and then the other.

His attempts seem questionable to me.

In terms of the puck moving backwards that should be fine since sometimes taking a wrist shot requires the player to drag the puck back a bit before shooting anyway

Was bored and had some time to kill.
As to why Turco saved Shannon's spinorama attempt:

Spoiler!
