I fucking hate Tony Gallagher. Ever listen to this guy's segment on team1040? I hate the tone that he speaks with, it's condescending as shit for a guy who has never been on a rink/court/field his entire life. When he's on the air, he doesn't sound much better than a slightly more knowledgeable than those morons who call in to the station demanding trades everytime we lose.

Now he goes on twitter and attacks his fellow reporters cause they're the first to report hockey news to hockey fans?? Is there supposed to be something bad about that?

Dumbass Gman just got put in his place by a proper hockey analyst and reporter. HE can go fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuckkkkk offffffffffff!!

/rant

MR_BIGGS 06-28-2011 07:12 PM

Gman was getting ripped in some blogs during the Stanley Cup Final about his article discussing Colin Campbell (i.e Puck Daddy).

Didn't Brian Burke ban Gallagher from the Canucks dressing room during his reign as GM?

tonyzoomzoom 06-28-2011 07:30 PM

all he does is bark out the same old rhetoric and stupid conspiracies

pastarocket 06-28-2011 07:39 PM

Good move Gillis! Canucks get a 4th round draft pick, a present from the Islanders. There's no way you pay 5 million plus for an offensive D man like Ehrhoff with subpar defensive skills and a plus minus of -14 in playoffs. Hoffa is gonna get paid by that baller owner Charles Wang. If there's any team that overpays for its players, it's the NY Islanders. 15 year, 67.5 million US for Rick DiPietro. Ehrhoff is running to where the money is, LOL.

murd0c 06-28-2011 07:42 PM

just think it's going to be a low 4th round pick as well hopefully lol

I wouldn't give him a raise on his $3.25 but at $3.25, that's not bad.

If we could somehow convince Jonathan Ericsson, that would be a great pickup.

Maybe some more physical presence on the back end with...LOL...SOB!

Ian White?

The Wiz wouldn't be a bad pick-up at the right price.

Ian White is a likable guy, but he's undersized and absolutely gotten eaten alive against the Canucks in the playoffs. He and Ballard are about the same size, but I think Ballard has more upside and does have the hip check. I'd rather have Ballard play a larger role next year, get Edler to work on his accuracy, and sign a stay-at-home D who's more mobile than Rome or Alberts.

Oh, and I completely forgot about Ryan Parent who's a legitimate top-6 D who was a victim of our depth last season.

Ive got more post in Canucks Threads than u have just posts. Maybe you jumped on the bandwagon when the playoffs came along

Nice name drops.

I called you a 'Band wagoner' for a couple reasons.

1 - Because you thought Jansen should be a 4th liner.
2 - Because you thought Lappy playing centre on the 4th line was the same thing.

Maybe your not a 'Band wagoner' because you know about Bure, and Messier maybe your just stupid?

ps - I only said trade Lu once (Not on here) and bring back Martin Brochu

DanHibiki 06-28-2011 07:55 PM

I thought right after the Stanley cup ended, the likes of Salo, Ehrhoff and Bieksa would take a paycut to stay with this team?

Now Bieksa gets a bet raise and Ehrhoff wants more? the fuuuuu

You just called him a bandwagoner, yet you spelled Hansen wrong? lol

Bieksa was willing to take a pay cut compared to what he would have gotten on the open market. Ehrhoff wasn't.

I'd really like to see Ehrhoff's shots on goal/shots taken stat for the playoffs. It seems like every time he took a shot, he missed the goal. Not blocked, not saved, but missed.

EmperorIS 06-28-2011 08:12 PM

being able to play and live in Vancouver should've been a good enough bonus already

JesseBlue 06-28-2011 08:14 PM

part of the problem is the agent...

isn't paul kariya be coming back next season...c'mon kariya...pull a colorado on your home turf!

The way I feel about Bieksa's contract is the same as what I felt about Kesler's when he got his new deal.

At the time, I felt 5mil was a bit too much for a guy who didn't put up huge offensive numbers. But of course now, 5mil is a total bargain.

I only hope Bieksa improves the same way.

I wanna see the '07 offensive Bieksa but the '11 defensive game.

Strictly from a city standpoint, Vancouver isn't all that great:

- Fans know everything about you and hound you whenever you're out.
- It's expensive to live here, even if you're making a couple million a year.
- It rains most of the time during hockey season

If I were a single hockey player, I'd love to play in a place like New York or LA where you can hide under the radar during the day, but spend your money in a city with good restaurants, real clubs, and beautiful women. Sunrise, Florida would be a good city to play in too with a great climate, low taxes, and absolute anonymity so you can spend your millions in peace.

I'm a HUGE kariya fan and has been since I was a kid, and would LOVE to see him as a Canuck, however, I don't think he fits the profile of a gritty power forward that we need though. :(

Weather, place to raise family, money, Cup contender, night life, other activities, good community, team that treats players well, culturally diverse.

I think that sums up the major things most NHL players consider in a team, if given the option and Vancouver covers a lot of it.

cliffhanger33 06-28-2011 09:05 PM

Canucks is stuck with a low salary cap and Gillis is going to be a slave to the salary cap like every other GM in the league. Although Ehrhoff was offered same deal as Bieksa,
$23mill for a 5 year term, obviously Gillis is aware that he cant pay millions of dollars more than he gave to to Edler, Hamhuis or Bieksa, so he had no choice but to let him walk. No doubt, Ehrhoff is now one of the best top 4 offensive defenseman available and he will attract a lot of attention. Im assuming maybe he will sign a $5.5+mill for 6 or more years. But honestly, I think Van doesn't totally need Ehrhoff as much as we need another top 6 forward with size.

LOL at least this isnt a fire sale that Chicago had to do

Is Erhoff really woth a forth round draft pick...?

SkinnyPupp 06-28-2011 09:17 PM

Part of me wonders if MG told Ehrhoff's agent "here is our final offer - same deal as Bieksa. He can either accept or we'll ship his RFA rights off to Winnipeg or some other shithole"

Then Air Hoff called the bluff, which ended up not being one :troll:

Then watch him go and sign with Detroit for less money than the Bieksa deal :okay:

cliffhanger33 06-28-2011 09:23 PM

Well he'll be better off waiting till July 1st and see if the Wings will hang a contract in front of his face. But ya i agree with Skinnypup, will probably be less than what Canucks offered.

Yes, Islanders will offer him what he wants, but he won't be seeing the playoffs anytime soon.

murd0c 06-28-2011 09:25 PM

Remember the Islanders did come on strong at the end of last season. I can actually see them be a surprise out of the east this year.
