SkinnyPupp 06-28-2011 10:05 PM

4th round was probably the best he could get from a non-Western conference team or Stanley Cup contender

lol 06-28-2011 10:06 PM

A 4th round pick? Basically gave their 4th round pick to try and sign him by Friday lol that would suck if isls dont make a deal lol

tonyzoomzoom 06-28-2011 10:08 PM

Get your facts straight. Florida got Leopold and a 3rd rounder from the Flames for Jaybo's rights

DanHibiki 06-28-2011 10:17 PM

it's a 4th round because they prob know it's a small chance of signing him.

I hate the tone that he speaks with, it's condescending as shit for a guy who has never been on a rink/court/field his entire life. When he's on the air, he doesn't sound much better than a slightly more knowledgeable than those morons who call in to the station demanding trades everytime we lose.

Now he goes on twitter and attacks his fellow reporters cause they're the first to report hockey news to hockey fans?? Is there supposed to be something bad about that?

Dumbass Gman just got put in his place by a proper hockey analyst and reporter. HE can go fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuckkkkk offffffffffff!!

I still remember Dan Russell discrediting Gallagher on Sports Talk since the mid 90's. Makes me wonder why he's still relevant.

Yep, exactly.
They must have been aware that they arent going to be able to sign him so they got a 4th round pick for negotiating rights for a few days.

But no doubt gna miss Hoff, the highlight of Hoff was against LA, the game that clinched us the President Trophy. Farewell Hoff, you will be missed =(

if ehrhoff signs with detroit, he's stepping into another cup contending franchise. i think we can all recognize the wings as a perennial threat for the cup every year too. at the very least, going to detroit, ehrhoff would know he will be in the playoffs and with a good team.

That's for sure, we definitely don’t want Detroit picking him up. I could see Isle’s showing him the money. They have ALOT of cap space and need to spend big just to get to the basement. Isle's need hoff

If hoff is allabout the money, he wud go to isles no doubt, but if he wants to see another playoff opportunity, its wings. We;ll see july 1st, what wings has to offer

they have that big contract rafalski retired from to fill, and ehrhoff isn't the same type of player rafalski was, but with the slim pickings he's going to get paid well

I was at this game. Trust me...that goal was FUCKING EPIC. Last second goal.

Tony Gallagher has a job cuz he goes offside/out of line too often
admit it. most of us hates his guts. but even a nutcase like he is makes for great press becuz he is so out of line

On the radio, u can't help but listen to him shut up callers to the team1040.

As for his comments towards the BobMac. Thats a new low for him. its not like his credibility shoots up ten fold if he breaks a trade. Hell, Gman breaking a trade or wutever isn't even his bread n butter.

As for Ehrhoff, sad, but I've said this for a long time. A guy like Kevin Bieksa doesnt come by too often. Especially with the chemistry with Hamhuis. Guys like Ehrhoff come and go. He will command big money.

Be glad the Canucks managed to squeeze a lil something from him leaving. Be glad that happened rather than him walking away a UFA. We gave a bag of pucks for him.

Two 7+ million defenceman? That would be pretty stupid but then again I'm not a gm

Whats wrong with that? Florida has roughly 42M in cap space..they need to reach the minimum 48M minimum salary floor.

MR_BIGGS 06-29-2011 06:06 AM

Never going to happen and I'm not sure if it is even feasible , but imagine Florida was able to sign Brad Richards and Ehrhoff with Stamkos going to July 1st with no contract and them getting him too.

Suddenly, Florida is a place players will want to play...

#nevergoingtohappen

jeedee 06-29-2011 06:08 AM

Well...Florida is a tax-free state...with greedy players like Ehrhoff, no one will take his money :troll:

The New York Rangers are reportedly preparing to buy out the contract of team captain Chris Drury.

SkinnyPupp 06-29-2011 06:23 AM

They can't though, since he's injured.. aren't those the NHLPA rules?

Seems like Drury and Sather have worked out some sort of agreement where Drury won't apply for a medical exception or grievance like Dan Cloutier did. Won't shock me if Drury is given a cushy front office job with the Rangers soon.

Quote:

The buyout ending Chris Drury's career as a Ranger will become official today, The Post has learned.

The 34-year-old who played four seasons on Broadway, the last three of them as team captain, will become an unrestricted free agent after deciding against applying for a medical exception due to a left knee condition.

It is believed Drury, who would have received the full $5 million due for the final season of his five-year, $35.25 million contract had he been declared medically unable to perform as opposed to the $3.333 million he will collect on the buyout, will seek to continue his career, perhaps in Buffalo, from whence he came on July 1, 2007.

Drury, who spent a majority of last season on Injured Reserve coping with a twice-broken finger and arthroscopic knee surgery that combined to limit him to 24 games of part-time duty in which he recorded just five points (1-4), is eligible to sign a one-year contract with bonuses because he was on IR for more than 100 days.

I'm betting Gillis is pulling another one of his slimey moves where,
"here I'll trade you away for a draft pick, but don't sign with them, and come july first we'll make the deal"
