We seen enough shoot outs already, time to take it out for the upcoming seasons.

Rather see some 4v4 3v3 2v2 action :D

spideyv2 01-18-2012 02:17 PM

3v3 would be bausss

RRxtar 01-18-2012 02:28 PM

3v3 sounds like it would be fun, but in reality it would end up heavily defensive

AzNightmare 01-18-2012 02:54 PM

:lol at this officiating...

Tanev called up from Chicago

I'm guessing he'll be placed with Edler for the time being? Tanev's a right side dman with a right hand shot which is a great fit

Ballard probably.

Unless Ballard is benched.

I disagree. I think teams will go for it as they do in 4on4 action.

That is, afterall, the whole point of awarding a point for going to the extra time...incentive to go for that bonus point.

Wonder what took so long?

I remember he had a concussion awhile back? Cap Space?

i think most teams would run a 2D 1F lineup. the problem with 'going for it' with a 1D 2F line up with the intention of lining up an odd man rush is if you fail on your odd man rush, its coming back a 2 one 1 odd man rush or even a breakaway the other way.

there may be a ton of ice to work with, but with only 3 guys on the ice, maybe one hanging back so 2 guys in the zone, theres no one to pass to.

If it'll be anything like roller hockey then it'll be a total possession game where they keep circling until that one opening opens up.

Either way, eventually the teams will have to take the risk in order to get that scoring chance.

I'm thinking it'd be worse than a shootout where it'll end up being just an alternating 2 on 1's. Goalies are really gonna love that :)

jeedee 01-18-2012 07:08 PM

3 on 3 would be great. Eventually one team WILL go for the kill. This is a perfect example:

3 on 3 turns into a 3 on 1 the other way. It's amazing how fast the game is played.

--

However, I currently like the system the NHL has now. 5 mins of 4v4, then a shootout. If the league does decide to do 3v3, how long till a goal is scored? 20 minutes?

I'd love to see 5 mins of 3v3 then a shootout

Really good editing on this one

Not really racist! 01-18-2012 08:16 PM

No game till Saturday.. but I guess its a good thing for the team

LSF22 01-18-2012 09:05 PM

So..

ASG captains are Alfredsson and Chara.... looks like there's a chance the twins and Edler could all end up on same team! :fullofwin:

That sort of thing happens in most arenas. Most team's mascots in all major North American leagues usually carry silly string in good fun, yea it can be annoying but if you're wearing a visiting team jersey/shirt in another arena, you got to be prepared to take some ribbing/fun abuse. Dude just went overboard, he must've been on celltech :troll:

U think the Bruins are quickly becoming the most hated team in the league? I remember the Canucks used to be, but all the Canucks ever did too be hated was trash talk and possibly embelish a couple calls. Bruin players are out there to hurt people

Haha, exactly.

People take things too seriously sometimes. It's just SILLY STRING.

Laugh it off.

Unless it's beer, then its' a fight.

RRxtar 01-18-2012 09:48 PM

the canucks were 'the most hated team in the league' by flames and oiler and leaf fans on forums like TSN for about 3 years because they were playing well and the other fans were jealous. people talk shit when they are jealous of your success. they are noted for being soft and divers but certainly not hated for it.

look at the canucks road games, sometimes half the crowd is wearing canucks gear. maybe second only to detroit. a pretty big feat for an expansion team.

toronto was a fairly hated team in real life in canada because everything toronto thinks its the center of the universe. now most people just feel bad for them.

boston, i would say the general consensus is by far the most hated team in the league.

jeedee 01-18-2012 10:03 PM

Ken Hitchcock pretty much summed up why the Canucks "are the most hated team in the NHL"

"It's because they win," Hitchcock said of the hated status. "Want to be liked? Start losing and everybody will love you. You think we were liked in Dallas? San Jose wanted to strangle us. As for Boston, you get to brag for a while until somebody knocks you off your perch. You get to toy with them [Canucks] now because you have status."

shawn79 01-18-2012 10:10 PM

^ Why do everybody like the boston bruins? 3 of the 7 Canadian teams are in their conference... Maybe Don Cherry is sucking up to that franchise because he had too many men on the ice when he coach the bruins in the finals and lost! :joy:
