LOL - Thomas:facepalm:

@DennisPang Bruins invited to the White House. Tim Thomas (born in Flint, Michigan) is a no show because he's a Republican.

@NHLConnected It appears Tim Thomas refused to go to this White House to meet President Obama with the #Bruins.

Puck Daddy - Chiarelli said he knew of Thomas decision months ago. Also said he won't be suspended despite skipping team event.

Gumby 01-23-2012 10:48 AM

Why the fuck are the Bruins invited to the White House?

Championship teams in the US are always invited to the White House the following season.

Sounds gimmicky, but fine, I'll accept that. :)

James Harrison also declined to visit with Obama after the Steelers won the Superbowl.

There's no "official" record because the nets and pylons are never set up exactly the same. Some skills competitions, I think they'll have the nets in their usual location, but other times (like yesterday), the nets are pushed up an arbitrary distance, which "shortens" the distance of a lap.

Disrespectful move on TTs part but I'm glad Obama wasnt hurt

Hey guess what? David Booth will be signing autographs for the first 150 people at RONA on East 12th in Vancouver TODAY between 5pm-6pm!

Personally I really don't like Obama and disagree with a number of his politics, however if I was in Thomas' shoes, I would not have skipped the event. Thomas basically turned a non political event that was about honoring/congratulating the team for winning their leagues championship into a side show about himself and his politics.

Agreed.

In this case, Thomas was pumping his own tires. :troll:

Tim Budong 01-23-2012 01:03 PM

agree with many
its not a political event
rather an honor.
Whatever, we sit here talking about a non important event. The world isnt hurt becuz he didnt goto the white house.

Glad many here can look beyond the media bullshit and think

Why do people care if Thomas goes to the White House or not?
I know it's a chance to meet the President and SOME people might think it's really cool, but why does any citizen need to meet him if he/she doesn't want to?

I get how it's "News", but to say it's disrespectful is stupid.

Mike Oxbig 01-23-2012 02:36 PM

What is Tomas Kaberle doing in there?

Ya especially if you play on a rival team now. Do they always wait this long before visiting? Couldn't have done it in the off-season?
