Now the question is will the Ducks retire his #. His situation is very similar to Bure's in Vancouver, both where dynamic amazing players for their first teams and had ugly splits with their teams and clashes with management. A lot of Ducks fans are still very bitter about Kariya to this day.

if it were my father in the NHL, i'd much rather him be happy with his career than worry about any extra cash he could pick up along the way.

Cant blame people who do care for the extra cash tho LOL, :fullofwin:

That's sad he missed playing in the 98 olympics, since it was in japan. What he said was true..all it takes is once brutal head shot to kill someone
I remember seeing him play on the 03 playoffs, time flies

The #NYR have announced that the club has officially bought out the contract of forward Chris Drury

@KatieStrangNYI: Talks broke down between #Isles and Christian Ehrhoff; email sent out from #Isles end to other teams

Bobby's already got the #9 so I highly doubt they'll retire it. I'm grateful for what he did in a Ducks jersey, but how he left still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. IF (and that's a big if) they retire his number in Orange County, there's no way it's going into the rafters before #8 and #35

spoon.ek9 06-29-2011 12:10 PM

not surprised ehrhoff doesn't want to play for NYI. despite having young talent, that team just isn't the type of team a guy in his prime wants to play for.

Gh0stRider 06-29-2011 12:16 PM

going from a cup contender to a POS team. no doubt he wont sign.

just like when NYI stepped in and tried to take nabby from signing with the wings.

no one in their right mind wants to play for the NYI

spoon.ek9 06-29-2011 12:19 PM

it's funny cuz you feel bad for tavares and yet, you feel good for grabner because he was given a chance to shine. i wonder how many more years the islanders will suck.

as long as charles wang chung and his fat kid is at helm, the team will plunder and simmer in the depths of hockey hell

I agree with you.

The way I see it is this - what can you do with $6M that you can't do with $5M? :)

@KatieStrangNYI Katie Strang
#Isles offered CE significantly more (in $ and term) than Vancouver reportedly offered (5-yr, $23 M) and set a 5 pm deadline; he declined

Looks like it's not all about the money.

Hm..interesting interesting. This points towards the fact that he wants to win then. If it isn't about money, why couldn't he accept the Canucks offer? I just hope Hoff isn't Detroit bound..

Pretty simple. He wants more money AND with a team that has a chance at stanley cup. Like Detroit!

LSF22 06-29-2011 01:31 PM

not sure if its posted.... Alberts resigned for 2 years

Sure appears that way. They have Rafalski's 6M to offer him. Way more than what Canucks could offer and is a contender. Why not?

Gh0stRider 06-29-2011 01:32 PM

#Canucks make it official. They have signed Maxim Lapierre and Andrew Alberts to two-year contracts.

sonick 06-29-2011 01:33 PM

Alberts, nice.

Ch28 06-29-2011 01:44 PM

mattsekeres Matthew Sekeres
Alberts gets a 2-year deal, annual cap hit of $1.225M.

Liquid_o2 06-29-2011 01:49 PM

Surprised that Alberts got resigned. Thought the Canucks would let him hit free agency.

I thought he played pretty well this year, was responsible in his own end. Only thing is his foot speed is brutal. However if it's a low cap hit, he's a good 6th/7th dman.

Now all we have left with a question mark is Salo.

Without Salo we now have:

Bieksa, Hamhuis, Edler, Alberts, Ballard, Tanev.

I can't see how the Canucks would sign a major defenceman during free agency unless someone is moved.
