Apparently the Isle's offer to Ehrhoff was $5.8M over 6 years.
Wow if that is true he must have zeroed in on a certain team he wants to go to. Similar to Hamhuis where he was traded 2/3 times before July 1, then signed automatically with the Canucks.
Another dman to watch is Ryan Parent. If he didn't have to clear re-entry waivers, he most likely would have been the first call-up last season instead of Tanev.
That being said, his past season with the Moose was kinda meh. He needs to solve his confidence issues and have a great training camp. If not, no chance he cracks the opening 23-man roster. If he doesn't make the team from the start, he'll probably be buried in the minors for another season. That would be a shame considering he has so much potential and was so highly touted not too long ago.
I still think that he is going to sign with Detriot. It's just too good of an offer to pass up. But maybe Pegula makes a huge pitch like he did with Reghr never know.
The Islanders never had a chance unless they offered him something insane like $7m. No way Ehrhoff wants to be on that team. They're getting better quicker than people think but they're still only on the verge of contending for a playoff spot. Ehrhoff is in defenseman prime years (around 28-32) and he'll want to be on a serious contender.
I might be absolutely crazy but I think there's an outside chance he signs with Boston.
Ehrhoff >>>> Kaberle. Roughly the same money.
The only issues is Boston has to think about the future because they don't have ANYONE signed past 2012/13 other than Chara and Marc Savard.
But Detroit has to be the first on the list for Ehrhoff.
That's sad he missed playing in the 98 olympics, since it was in japan. What he said was true..all it takes is once brutal head shot to kill someone
I remember seeing him play on the 03 playoffs, time flies Posted via RS Mobile
I still remember that hit. The video doesn't do justice since it was slow motion. To this day, it would be fantastic to see Gary Suter or any Suter related player end up like Steve Moore on or off the ice.

I think there's a pretty solid chance he'll sign with Buffalo.
Would not be surprised, fellow Germans Hecht and Uwe Krupp have been selling Ehrhoff on living and playing in Buffalo and the Sabres also open next season in Germany.
As a Sabres fan I don't think we necessarily need Ehrhoff, especially if he's looking for anything close to $6mil per cap hit. Regehr's acquisition already shored up the D, with Myers, Leopold, Sekera, Morrisson and a young Gragnani improving.
I do like how Pegula, who has been a die hard Sabres fan all his life, is will to spend whats necessary to bring the cup to Buffalo. Word is the Sabres will be going after Brad Richards hard.
