As a Sabres fan I don't think we necessarily need Ehrhoff, especially if he's looking for anything close to $6mil per cap hit. Regehr's acquisition already shored up the D, with Myers, Leopold, Sekera, Morrisson and a young Gragnani improving.
I do like how Pegula, who has been a die hard Sabres fan all his life, is will to spend whats necessary to bring the cup to Buffalo. Word is the Sabres will be going after Brad Richards hard. | yeah buffalo looks like they are really trying to build a better team for the upcoming season. adding regehr to the blueline also brings some much needed veteran presence imo. but with ehrhoff in his prime, many teams will be after him. like the canucks, most teams cant afford/dont want to pay him 6+ mil.

Do we sign Richards at 7Mil and keep Hodgson, Schnieder, and Samuellson
Or
Do we trade for and sign Parise for 6-7M and lose Hodgson, Schnieder, and Samuellson | Hodgson and Schnieder are just basically taking up space right now by that I mean there's no spot on the team now and honestly there isn't one for the next couple years and we can get rid of Samuellson with parise taking over his spot with Kesler. Yes your looking at it being a lot to give up but our time is now our players are signed and it's either now or never in a way. Don't forget NJ is in rebuilding mode as well right now and at least it's a east coast team!!

I doubt this rumor is true anyway. Either the idiots on CKNW are dying for listeners or some jackass on twitter started this.

It just doesn't make sense to me.

Regarding VAN radio report on Parise to Canucks: fantasy. Someone's over-active imagination. Don't believe they're even talking at this pt.

But he's definitely a guy that has experience/chemistry with Kes when they played for Team USA.
Raymond-Kesler-Parise would be a deadly line with speed and scoring capabilities...too bad the rumor isn't true |

The people who were fooled are those that don't know how to armchair GM properly. You can't trade a guy that is going to salary arbitration.
Plus would you really trade Schnoo, Samuelsson and Hodgson for a guy that ISN'T EVEN SIGNED TO A CONTACT!?

its not going to happen but having parise on this team would be unbelievable to watch. playing with kes or even plugging him on the sedin line from time to time to give a different look. Posted via RS Mobile |

It would be fucking awesome to have Ovechkin, Crosby, Gretzky, Howe, Bobby Orr, Rocket Richard, etc playing with the Sedins!
...why even bother if it isn't even in the realm of possibility? LET'S TRADE TANNER GLASS' NEGOTIATING RIGHTS FOR RYAN MILLER TO BACK UP LUONGO.

Well, come up with trades that are even slightly reasonable. Weber, Parise...all these are stupid.
There's TONS of UFAs that the Canucks could be interested in. Ville Leino, Tomas Fleischmann, Joel Ward, Sean Bergenheim, Max Talbot...all would be good, affordable additions to the Canucks bottom six, some of which could surprise and move up to play with Kes.
But I guess they're not as interesting or sensational?
Why? Because the Canucks don't need to make a big splash. They have two of the top point getters in the league. Only Tampa can say that too. They have amazing top end players...they just need a better supporting cast and maybe another top-6 to play with Kes.

All the hype about the Canucks picking up some big name via trade or through FA is what it is-hype.
The Canucks have the ability to build through their farm be it forwards (Hodgson, Shirokov) or defense (Parent, Tanev). If anything, the Canucks just need to fill out their bottom 6, and even then they still have some players to resign if they so choose.
If anything, and Ronin is right, the only thing I can see the Canucks really splurging for is another top 6 forward.

the parise thing was just random and fans are just having fun with it. don't really see the big deal mentioning it. the weber rumour was more annoying as it went for days.
honestly id love to see talbot here but if gillis' intent is to resign all the old guys first i don't see how we will be able to get him.. Posted via RS Mobile |
