Contract Talks
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun takes a look at a number of rumours and reports from around the league. Among those included are the Senators contract negotiations with All-Star defenceman Erik Karlsson and whether or not the Devils will look to deal pending unrestricted free agent forward Zach Parise. He also says the Leafs have been tossing around the names of Mikhail Grabovski and Clarke MacArthur in their trade discussions.

Looking to Unload
Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reports that the Blue Jackets would love to unload goalie Steve Mason. However, with one more year at $3.2 million and his poor play there are unlikely to be any takers. Matheson also says that the Blackhawks could use Carolina defenceman Tim Gleason, along with a half dozen other teams and that Red Wings pending UFA Brad Stuart, whose family lives in San Jose, could very well be heading back to California in the off-season.

Defensive Depth
With the number of concussions in Philly piling up and a lack of depth on defence will the Flyers be buyers at the trade deadline? Sam Carchidi on Philly.com speculates as to what moves Flyers GM Paul Holmgren might make. He says there are rumblings that Nashville might make Shea Weber or Ryan Suter available and also speculates about the prospects of landing one of two defencemen from Carolina or perhaps even Toronto's Luke Schenn.

Core Commitment?
John Vogl reports that Sabres' president Ted Black is hinting that the team could make changes to its core group of players saying, "our commitment is to winning, not to any particular group of players that are labeled as a core." Black did however, speak out in support of head coach Lindy Ruff and GM Darcy Regier once again.

Fitting In
After the Chicago Blackhawks dealt for veteran C Brendan Morrison on Friday, the question now becomes where he will fit in with the team when they get back to work following All-Star weekend. The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Marian Hossa is excited to have Hossa on the team and that Morrison will likely centre the Hawks second-line alongside Hossa.
