Too bad Nashville is doing so well so a trade doesn't seem too likely. |

Hockeyblogger Ecklund is at it again. The Nash trade winds into Vancouver are being fanned by this dude: HockeyBuzz.com - Eklund - LA, Van, Chicago, Toronto Lead Push for Nash. Canadiens, Wings, Semin+ |
Here's a tip: Don't even bother posting anything Eklund-related |

Ill say this right now. Schneider isn't going anywhere at the trade deadline. The canucks are aiming for another cup run and MG knows they simply cannot ride Lu soley with a no minute back up. The Canucks are good when Cory and Lu are playing well. We are not trading Schneider. We are not getting a top 2 lines forward. We are not getting a top 4 defense man. We may get a key 4th liner or a 5/6/7 D man. but nothing else. |
I foresee a somewhat small trade. I think we'll acquire one or 2 guys for the 3rd/4th line. I'd like to see a guy like paul gaustad, sean bergenheim, or maybe we need a token black guy like joel ward. |

he had more in the preds playoff run last year |

bergenheim was pretty much the only person scoring for tampa last year and ward did pretty well himself. |

we need D but we trade for offense while losing goaltending and d? lol ok |
I think Schneids is more valuable to us for the playoffs than Nash |
7+ million to spend on 1 d-man, whether you trade for him or sign him, is one of the worse places to spend your cap space IMO. Weber is a great solid d-man and he'd certainly fill seats, but when was the last time the Canucks not sell out their rink? I would never spend that much dough on a single player playing D. I would way rather have 2x 3.5-4M d-men, the gap between a 4M and a 7M d-man is not justifiable IMO. Similar situation with goaltenders in today's NHL, the level of performance between 4M and 7M isn't THAT big. The gap between a 4M and 7M forward however is much different. Unless your name is Gomez. |

Even if it means paying Weber 7-8M for long term, I'd do it. He's that missing top 4, right side dman, right hand shot the Canucks are missing. Salo is retiring after this season so who plays with Edler then? Tanev? BALLARD? I know it's impossible to get him at the deadline, but there is a possibility he signs a 1 year deal to stay in Nashville this offseason, becomes a UFA the year after and go where he pleases. Hamhuis did get his signing rights traded TWICE, and still signed with the Canucks with a hometown discount. It's POSSIBLE, Weber could do the same. But as Ronin mentioned, there is no chance Weber gets traded this deadline. It's more of a realistic situation that I posted above than Perry or Nash coming to the Canucks :lawl: Who knows though. |
@TEAM1040 Ryan Nugent-Hopkins left the Oilers game early & didn't return after re-aggravating his left shoulder |
Maybe we can work a deal with NYR and pay only part of Wade Redden's contract? :troll: |
I had to type that up quickly at work. Someone asked for salary of players Face it, no big splash is being made at deadline. Quote:
