I doubt Nash would fetch for that much in a trade. Why? The CBJ have like zero leverage here. The fact we're even talking bout the availability of Nash means he's asked for a trade. CBJ knows that they can't win with him in the lineup and the best thing for that franchise is to trade him for young assets and rebuild. Other teams know this so I doubt they'll get an offer anywhere near as good as coho, schneider, Tanev and a first. It'll be similar to what the sens got when they had to trade away Heatley.

Again, MG wouldn't pay Nash that much more Than the sedins when they are basically the pinnacle in terms of cap hit

Not to mention he's debatably not even as good as the sedins.

the 8mil/yr cap is the biggest deal breaker for any franchise.
this isnt the typical long term contract with a 5.xmil cap hit.. thats much easier to work with

Any team can throw some insane offer, but it would never make sense money wise

spideyv2 02-14-2012 03:25 PM

I always thought Nash was a little overrated

Hell fucking no. That is not debatable. Nash has never been a PPG player in his entire career. Mike Gillis is not stupid to take on a 8 mill cap hit for a player you can barely define as a "star". Before anyone replies with "Oh but he's never had any good players to play with." look at Iginla, guy has played with scrubs most of his career and still put up PPG numbers.

I wish I could thank you on mobile.

Nash is a good player, but his caphit is high and I have a hard time considering him a "franchise" player.

Are you kidding me? No shit, he's basically got the weight of the entire CBJ organization on his shoulders. Hard to produce when everyone around you is shit.

It's a fair argument, and I'll use it. The Flames aren't the same, at least they have a shot at the playoffs once in a while, CBJ is consistently trash. 70ish points/season playing on a losing team with a losing attitude is impressive.

I still find it funny how Columbus brings in Carter and CLB becomes worse than before :lawl:

I'll be ok with any CBJ trade to Vancouver that involves Nash as long as we also get Grant Clitsome! Imagine the signs at Rogers Arena.

bruins getting pwnd again

I think Nash is a superstar, unfortunately, he's been buried in a shitty organization with a terrible development program. He hasn't really had anyone to play with his entire career.

He could easily be a 90 point player with a real team.

Gh0stRider 02-14-2012 06:02 PM

21 straight at home for the redwings
:fuckyea:

Heres an interesting take in my books...

only Iginla, Ovechkin, Perry, Kovalchuk and Heatley have MORE goals than Rick Nash in the past FIVE seasons
Rick Nash is TURNING 28 this year, has 8mil/yr contract with 6 years left
Its going to be tough for a CONTENDER to add Nash onto the roster. Most contenders DO NOT have 8mil in cap space for next season. Although from looking at capgeek, it seems that the KINGS could afford him next season as Jared Stoll, Willie Mitchell and Dustin Penner become UFAs next year. But the the Kings have traded away quite a future away to acquire Mike Richards. Most teams with established Top 6 forwards and top 4 D wont be willing to blow up their teams so easily either.

Will the GM of the CBJ, scott howson even have a job at the end of the season is yet to be seen. The bluejackets are dealing with the face of their franchise here. The fan support is already nonexistent, and Rick Nash is probably one of their last straws for the struggling franchise. There really isn't much left in terms of prospects for CBJ, so the asking price for Nash is going to be ABSOLUTELY insane for an established player.

The sad truth is that Jeff Carter is a cancer and no team will take him. Jeff Carter's NTC kicks in after this season as well.

The only bright light for CBJ is that they could try to move RJ Umberger or Antoine Vermette. The return might not be as wonderful, but its a start for CBJ to rebuild around Nash/Carter

Nash is the power forward that every team would love to have but the hit on cap would just be too much for most as mentioned. Whereever he goes, I do not want him to go to L.A.

I've seen the reports that Nash is on the block...but with Columbus having the all star game next year, who will they sell as the superstar?
