Gill is going to be an UFA, not much insurance. Unless you are talking about injuries or something.

I doubt it, Nashville are buyers this year looking to make a deep run shoring up depth.

Awesome, Boom Boom's grandson will now play for his grandfathers old team

Tim Budong 02-17-2012 10:33 AM

depth move
i cant see the preds moving either defenseman tbh b4 the seasons out

dbaz 02-17-2012 10:34 AM

Interested to see what the canucks do because they can still put volpatti, ebbett and ballard on ltir for their injuries.
Id think la has the upper hand with nash, and doubt the canucks even consider him. LA has tons of prospects to over pay with. Jack Johnson and Jonathan Bernier with most likely two of the following..
Andrei Loktionov(C ) Slava Voynov(D) Tyler Toffoli(RW)
Derek Forbort(D) Nicolas Deslauriers(D) Jake Muzzin(D) Thomas Hickey(D)

highfive 02-17-2012 10:44 AM

Conditional 5th is if Geoffrion plays more than 50 games next season.

But still...Gill for a 2nd Rounder and prospects?

I doubt Nash will end up anywhere at all. Listening to 1040, Gillis was right, it's hard to move such a big contract during the season. During the offseason, teams are has an additional 10% cushion.

dbaz 02-17-2012 10:48 AM

gill is a good pick up. blocks a lot of shots, can clear the front of the net easily. combine that with rinne.. makes them a lot better.

CRS 02-17-2012 10:59 AM

I would rather hold onto Schneider and see what is offered on draft day.

Seems like a long stretch but I'm really hoping to fetch 1st overall.

Talk about hockey running in the family.

Canadiens acquire Geoffrion from Predators in trade for Gill

Really? You're making it sound like the Kings are a lock to even make the playoffs. This is a team who's sitting in 8th. A team that has the leagues shittiest offence. A team that's been shut out SEVEN times in 58 games. A team that needed to "cheat" to be CBJ at home. Even if they get Nash, the ONLY ONLY way the Kings even come close to beating the Canucks is if Quick absolutely stands on his head and steals 4 games for them. If Calgary can get hot, the Kings are done.

Haha. And why would they not if they land Nash to improve their shittiest offence as you say. They are currently 8th but tied in pts due to Phoenix having more wins. Even if Calgary gets hot I can see them making the playoffs and Phoenix dropping off.

That's bad news...if the Canucks finish 2nd, big chance they could get LA in the 1st round. Do you really want to play Nash, Kopitar, Brown, Richards and co with Quick in net? I've been hoping all year we get Phoenix, Calgary or Dallas so we could have a relatively easier first round.

Exactly.

Yeah, what I didn't want to see if it happens. Just makes thing tougher in the playoffs.

He's the type of D you need to make it through the playoffs. Good pick up for the Preds.

I believe he's referring to Brett, not Tim

NHL

Last night's game between the Stars and Flames.

Mike Ribero with a no look back pass to Ott for a one timer.
Sick sick move to score the GWG in OT.
Big big hit on Cammalleri by Mark Fistric.
Poor Jamie Benn getting cut in the leg delivering a hit on Giordano.

There will be autograph/picture opportunities as soon as he is "spotted" by public.
I don't know details as they kept it pretty hush hush, but I managed to get some info on it, so I thought I'd share it with RS

Adding a great player never guarantees anything and in fact sometimes it makes things worse. Yes, their offence will probably improve but that doesn't mean they will make the playoffs. LA added Ricahrds in the offseason and yes they lost some players the otherway but they got worse. CBJ added Richards and they got worse. Heck CBJ was bad enough who would have thought they would be even shittier with Richards added to their team. Plus the fact that it's so tight around that 8 spot that anything can happen and yes that means LA missing the playoffs with Nash on their team is a real possibility.

Anyone remember Colorado adding Selanne and PK? Colorodo was already a decent team at the time and that did them no good either.
