Varlamov:

- 2 years younger
- more NHL experience
- more SOs, and better GGA (S% is pretty much the same)

Schneider:
- NHL stats: 18-9-3

varlamov is definitely not worth a 1st and 2nd rounder. he hasnt proven shit. avs definitely got shafted.

Avs only other choice was Vokoun, and I guess he probably wants a huge long term cap-circumventing contract?

Hearing that Varlamov has signed with Colorado, a deal very similar to Carey Price's with Mtl (2 yrs, $5.5m).

Agree. First round draft picks are too valuable to just throw around like that.

The Av's second round is conditional though.

Surprising to see, but Philly actually looks like they've done a good job so far! They've got a goalie (Bryz), Jagr and Talbot. Sure they lost some offense in Richards and Carter, but they've picked up a goalie (desperately needed) and added some pieces they were missing while they were at it.

Alatar 07-01-2011 10:46 AM

On a side note... Raffi's closer to Mexico now. ;)

I like PHI now. They've got a pretty dirty looking top 3 lines.

JVR-Giroux-Jagr
Hartnell-Briere-Voracek
Versteeg-Schenn-Simmonds

What's more important is that Briere wasn't playing his natural position last year and neither was Carter. They had too many centres playing wing. This year, everyone is pretty much playing where they are used to playing.

Actually, if the Canucks medical team give him a clean bill of health, Fleischmann could be a good signing since he won't command as much salary with his risk. He would be great to play alongside Kes.

Canes get boucher

RT @TSNBobMcKenzie MTL signs goalie Peter Budaj to two year deal

RedWings sign defenseman Mike Commodore to a one-year deal.

Would love to see Flash here if he's not too banged up. Would really compliment the second line.

Your post makes it sound like the Canucks just conditionally signed Fleischmann.

Sullivan to Pittsburgh 1 year @ 1.5 million seems like a decent deal if he stays healthy

Joel Ward to WSH 4yr/12m
