Does anyone remember why we lost in the finals last year???

Gh0stRider 02-27-2012 11:58 AM

@VanCanucks: Media Release: #Canucks have acquired right wing Andrew Gordon from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenceman Sebastien Erixon.

injuries to key players?

rsx 02-27-2012 12:01 PM

FB's blowing up with fan boys crying over Cody. Pathetic. Know your hockey, Cody's a 1-2C and there's no room for him. Grit was needed - Kassian's the potential answer. It's about the playoff drive!

Can Gragnani play the right side?

The Sabres tried him on the right side early this season but that was an absolute disaster. He's never played the right side in any level of hockey before this season and it showed. Sabres eventually switched him back to the left side with Ehrhoff before sending him back down. He's really a power play specialist in the mode of MA Bergeron and Andy Delmore.

Kassian's main issue is mental. As I said, he has temper issues, having been in a number of off ice incidents of fights, I believe he was even charged once for assault. If he can get his head on straight, he has the potential to be a poor mans Lucic.

I'm kind of surprised the Canucks didn't at least try Cody more on the wing first, or at least keep more scoring C depth for the playoffs, but like I've said countless times, AV has him on a very short leash.

Yeah, we had core player injuries and also because we didn't play well. Not because we didn't have a 'power forward prospect'.

tiger_handheld 02-27-2012 12:03 PM

i expect MG to look out for D, not a bunch of Fwds..

dbaz 02-27-2012 12:05 PM

Great trade imo. He wasnt going to be more than a 2nd line centre on this team. We got kassian a young power forward we always wanted and a good young puck moving dman. Trade made us better.

Razor Ramon HG 02-27-2012 12:06 PM

I'm sure Gillis knows what he's doing.

Awesome. This team needs some crazy. Fuck Marchand is going to have a harder time punching Kassian or Bitz or Weise 6 times in the face if we play them again. I think we are set now. If Luongo isnt his usual choke artist (or if he is but Schenider steps us) we could go all the way.

hypediss 02-27-2012 12:06 PM

Reasonable to expect to see coho go but not for this price

JDął 02-27-2012 12:07 PM

Holy shit Coho knob gobblers, look at the bigger picture. The Canucks DESPERATELY need a big powerful player that will hit, fight, and defend our star players. Hodgson was a growing talent... on a team that has a ton of it already with the Sedins, Burrows, Raymond and Kesler at times. Booth is coming along as well. The team is already as soft-handed as it can get.

This is Kassian's first NHL season and he is only 21. He will learn a lot playing in AV's system with our finesse players while still providing something that every hockey team needs: toughness. At 6'4" 220lbs+ you'll all be glad we have him on the ice next time a douchebag like Marchand dummies one of the Sedins in the playoffs and a ref doesn't make the call. Hodgson will be a great player, he's just not what the Canucks need right now.

we were pushed around in front of our own net. The bergeron and marchand were gritty goals. The power forward woulda helped.

+1 for the trade with Buffalo. At first, I reacted in anger after hearing the Cody trade. After I settled down to to some research about Kassian and Gragnani, the deal does make sense on paper.

Canucks have more grit with Kassian and a good puck moving D man with Gragnani.

Are these trades enough to help the Canucks get back to the Stanley Cup final, to win a championship? We shall see.

spideyv2 02-27-2012 12:10 PM

lol, people saying this is Cam Neely v2

stuff99 02-27-2012 12:11 PM

Fuck this trade.

Eh, The sedins themselves seemed as though, they didn't give a shit.

As others said, it was due to key injuries.

spideyv2 02-27-2012 12:15 PM

at least Kassian can throw

So this 'prospect power forward' would push the rats out of our own zone instead of our injured D?

I am not against fair trades but I value 7seven accessment since he follows the sabres.
