^^^ I feel like majority of the teams in the West got better, while we are pretty much status quo. |

Sign Jason Arnott to a 1 year deal for veteran presence and a big body upfront? :troll: |
damn, I was out the whole day. Just found out we lost Torres. That sucks... We kinda needed his physical presence. |
Face it, free agency has been ruined by a huge minimum level, and disgusting front loaded contracts. Canucks only need to make some minor but important adjustments, but because of the state of free agency, becoming part of the "frenzy" is not the way to do it. IMO Posted via RS Mobile |
Lots of people knocking the Sturm signing. Here is his scouting report from NHL Forecaster. ASSETS: Has excellent speed and puck-handling skills. Possesses good hockey sense and sees the ice very well. His speed makes him a special-teams weapon. Plays well in all three zones. FLAWS: Isn't overly big and can get pushed around. Hasn't put up the numbers expected of him in his career. Doesn't show a lot of offensive consistency. Is injury-prone. CAREER POTENTIAL: Speedy, yet fragile veteran winger. |
so whats the deal with Rypien? never heard about him since he was on a personal leave |
The biggest knock on Sturm is that he's not a playoff performer. Well to that I say that's what happens when you play for the Sharks most of your career :troll: Posted via RS Mobile |

he's been a solid 20+ goalscorer throughout his career which doesn't seem bad. Kinda reminds me of the player Raymond might turn out to be like |
Ryan Kesler getting drafted Spoiler! |

NHL Revenue: 2005-06 1.8B 2010-11 2.9B Plus, under the CBA, players get 57% of league revenue, and any excess goes into escrow. So who cares what the salary numbers are? And with the cap, you don't get 3-4 teams spending to buy a cup. Instead, you have to earn it by managing your team properly. Great job NHL. |
that video makes kesler look like a beast |
Richards to NYR. Who didn't see that coming? |

Everyone needs to relax. Besides, after last season, I don't care about what the Canucks do in the regular season so long as they make the playoffs playing well (whether that means a lower or higher seed - it doesn't matter.) Quote:

After all the ridiculous money being thrown around lately, Brad Richards at 6.5Mil Cap Hit isnt that bad at all |
I don't understand why everyone is so pissed off why Gillis didn't want to make some big moves. Honestly I'm happy he didn't, in order to make a splash he would of had to over pay for a decent player for a ridiculous length contract. So he signed Sturm good hes a decent player and we didn't pay much for him. If it works awesome but if it doesn't it's only one year and we can always trade him as well. Team's over paying right now are only handicapping them selves for years to come and remember our core is signed we just need a couple pieces which Gillis will still work on which will benefit us in the future and not the player. |
Vancouver Canucks sign D Nolan Baumgartner and F Mark Mancari. Posted via RS Mobile |
that scouting report must be old because sturm has had a broken leg/fibula and 2 acl surgeries in the last 3 years and has skated like a 45yrold because of it. |
