The only mistake he made this game.

LOL totally agree! That's mainly because he's got crazy speed in the game so he can get to all the right spots for one-timers and can get set loose on breakaways quite often. Too bad he still gets knocked down with the slightest bump lol ...

Great game!

A hard fought victory tonight. -glad to see the team play with emotion and stand up for each other. Facing agitators like Steve Ott and Adam Burrish makes those scrums after the whistle that much more animated.

“@RealKyper: Hearing tonite #NHL has in fact decided to ask #Blackhawks D. Keith to waive his right to in person hearing for elbow on #Canucks D. Sedin”

“@RealKyper: Meaning Keith could receive 5 or more games. Also told his #NHL hearing could be pushed back much later then the one scheduled for Fri 2pm.”

MG1 03-22-2012 08:21 PM

I hope they make an example out of Duncan Keith. 10 games or more.

This was no accidental contact. It was premeditated. Bastard went out of his way to take Sedin out.

If it's in retaliation, even more so........... I still don't get the 40 second shift Daniel took after the hit. Delayed concussion effects? Is there such a thing?

Perhaps MG was like wtf? Take him off the ice, NAO..........so Keith can get more than the two minutes or a game suspension.

I seriously hope it's not a concussion. Replay looked like he was hit right in the jaw and you could see him on the bench moving his jaw around. It's my understanding that if players fail the quiet room testing, they are not allowed back on the ice. Also, since this was a relatively meaningless game, there would be no reason to risk further injury to Daniel by needlessly putting him on the powerplay.

clowe 03-22-2012 09:02 PM

Suspending Keith for the regular season is kinda meaningless. The Hawks aren't really at risk of missing the playoffs. He should get a few playoff games like Torres last year but I don't know how Shanny can structure a suspension like that unless he gives him >7 games.

Elliotte Friedman‏@Friedgehnic
Would bet heavily Canucks are arguing behind scenes that Keith suspension should compare to Rome's. A lot of lobbying from both teams.

Just heard a while ago though team1040 that the hearing will still be through the phone, but with in-person consequences.

Shanahan doesn't have to give out a 5+ suspension, but it just opens up the option to.

That would probably explain Rome's description of the hit, which was very apologetic in Keith's favour.

I always thought Keith was a super clean player, and has been my favourite Dman for a long time. But this was clearly a dirty hit.. we all thought the same thing about Shane Doan when he first got suspended, now he got suspended again and fined for boarding...

Always thought Keith was clean too, but there were many cases that demonstrated how dirty Keith can be. Clearly, elbowing to the head isn't the first for him.

not really, the hawks are in a 3 way battle right now with det and nash for the 4th spot to grab home ice, so there is still a lot at stake imo.

Fair enough. Though, if they sit in that 6th seed, they'll draw LA/SJ/PHX or DAL, that might be more favorable match-up for them than Detroit or Nashville but that's irrelevant.
