Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I hope Danny doesn't feel rushed for the playoffs.......It's pointless for him to rush things and play a couple of games, then relapse like Sid.

The Canucks will just have to rally around him and make some adjustments. A good team should be able to do this. Players stepping it up, so to speak.

Last time Daniel got hurt and was out for a number of games(2yrs ago via broken foot), Henrik stepped up and became the Art Ross and Hart winner. Maybe Hank will do the same again, start producing offensively.

I posted this on CDC. What do you guys think? This is in regards to implementing stiffer fines/suspensions.
Besides being suspended for x number of games. I think they should fine the player and the coach. Fining the player & the coach for the amount of games the player would be suspended for. The fine would go to NHLPA or any charity of the victim's team's choice.
Not sure what would be a suitable amount, guess it would depend on each player? Players who make >$3mill get fined $100,000 per game. Players who make <$3mill get fined $50,000 per game. Coaches get fined the same amount his player is paying.
Example,
Keith suspended for 5 games. He pays out $500,000. Quenville pays out $500,000. Total of $1mill.
This way players would think twice before committing to a hit. Coaches would get fined because they put those players out. Hopefully this would be a deterrence.
And they should implement a system for repeat offenders, after getting suspended 3x(separate occasions) they should get an automatic 10 games.

I don't think stiffer fines/suspensions will accomplish anything. You can suspend a guy 10 games for the same play, but if that suspension only goes through 1 out of 3 times guys are going to keep pushing their luck
Keith threw the elbow because he had gotten away in the past with similar plays and no discipline.
Consistent on ice ref'ing and off ice discipline is what will speak the loudest in the long term.

I think teams should not be allowed to fill the position of the suspended player until he comes back. Since Keith is a defenseman, the Hawks should only be allowed to dress 5 D-men for the next 5 games and Keith's 28 mins/game would need to be distributed among the other 5 defenseman, so the other 5 guys would need to play on average, ~5:30 more per game.
This way, they might think twice before doing something stupid because it puts his team at a disadvantage and puts a lot of added pressure onto his teammates, because right now, the Hawks can just plug in Sean O'Donnell and he can eat up 15-18 minutes of Keith's ice time (albeit not as effectively of course) and the other 5 guys would only need to play an average of an additional 2 minutes/game

Assuming you meant dress 5 D, they would then be allowed to dress 13 F right, they could just dress a Defensemen under F, sharks do the opposite of that sometimes, they dress Vandermeer a Defensemen as their 12th F.

But goodluck getting everyone to agree on this issue.

Say in your example since the fine is 1m in total. The salary cap is decerease by 5m for next season. That will get management attention since they can no longer aquire the players they want becasue of the decerease in salary cap they got.
