Dallas is bitter their team took an important L, their bitterness probably played a big role in that scrum

rsx 03-31-2012 12:38 PM

Loved how Raymond tried that goal. Canucks need confidence and swag from more of their players.

I understand what you mean though. It's better to be safe than sorry. But, I think these little scrums add to our strength and character as a team.

I do agree that I'm liking the trend about seeing these guys finally stick up for each other.

But as a hockey player, and not as a Canuck fan. Doing the Michigan at that context (winning 5 - 2, 2 seconds left in the game, at a team trying to make the cut) is just plain unclassy.

All the more why "The Michigan" at the above context was an inappropriate way to end a win.

edit: I think I'm just getting old that I'm starting to be a hockey "conservative." A little bit more and I'd probably sound like RS's Don Cherry, if not already :(

Class or no class, there are way worse things you can do that are legitimately worth scrumming over. IMO Dallas was easily as unclassy for starting that scrum over a nothing play with 2 seconds left in the game.

I would way rather Mayray play like a prick and try something like that with nothing on the line, than the Mayray we saw a couple weeks ago that couldn't stay on his skates if his life depended on it.

GrapeDrink 03-31-2012 01:25 PM

I'm with noir on this incident, I don't get why you think it was nothing, he was trying to be cute, up 3 with 5 seconds left in the game, that is straight disrespect. If steve ott did that at the end of a 3 goal win vs nucks, I'm sure your comment would be very different.

spideyv2 03-31-2012 01:26 PM

Mayray will NEVER please anyone on these boards

I hate the "it could be worse" argument that for somehow makes EVERYTHING its applied to as "okay".

Not true. Everyone is pleased he got himself back on track after the "healthy scratch."

cliffhanger33 03-31-2012 01:36 PM

Karlsson starting for flames, flood gates :troll: jkjk

Hope they stay classy and not start injuring our players

A much needed big victory over Dallas to help the team's confidence in its offensive ability. Henrik had a good game, making good passes throughout the game.

The fourth line contributed to scoring too. Great goal by LaPierre!
-good to see the D-men like Salo and Alberts score too.

Snuff out the Flames tonight!!

It was pretty nice to see a Salo bomb go in as a goal, pretty sick.

UFO 03-31-2012 01:46 PM

Never intended for that to be my message. My point was you can't justify Dallas starting the scrum by saying that it was Raymond's fault; they could have just as easily turned the other cheek at that point in the game where it was clearly decided. If Raymond had pulled it off and actually scored, would the scrum still have happened? I suspect not. It would have made every highlight reel as a great goal and not as an unnecessary afterthought, unless you are Don Cherry.

When Henrik no look tip passed through his legs to Daniel who then went between his own legs to beat Kiprusoff for the 6-2 goal, that was also unnecessary and cute but Calgary didn't start anything because they understood there was no reason to (I can't believe I just used the Flames as an example for class).

Lame. STL caught up with 2 minutes left in 2nd, its 3-2 now, our BJ's still have a one goal lead............. But dam they're useless :okay:

bballguy 03-31-2012 05:59 PM

Buffalo drops their second straight and Washington gets the SO win putting them ahead of Buffalo by 2 points; only 3 games remaining for each team.

Buffalo has Toronto (who they lost to tonight), Philly, and Boston
Caps have Tampa, Florida, and NY.

Caps will probably finish 8th leaving Buffalo on the outside looking in.
