lol what did Schenn's face look like after that?

nah 04-01-2012 08:11 PM

Too bad Asham didn't throw some more at Schenn. That cross check to Crosby was cheap, you can pretty bad whiplash like that.

Simmonds got a few to the head from Engelland too.

Pittsburgh definitely won that melee.

Where where

DanHibiki 04-01-2012 08:26 PM

Wonder if Talbot feels awkward towards this rivalry. He was a long time Pens and had lots of friends on that team.

Imagine if Bieksa plays for Chicago next year?

trancehead 04-01-2012 08:42 PM

im surprised talbot even signed with them in the first place
they are huge rivals
bigger than the pens - caps 24/7 built up to sell supposedly

Ronin 04-01-2012 08:55 PM

They're professionals. They talk a lot of smack but if Henrik and Daniel were traded and walked into the Bruins dressing room tomorrow and said they want to join the team, they would be welcome, I'm sure.

It's business. There's lots of trash talk but seriously, most of that's for the fan experience and because emotions run high during the playoffs. But it doesn't matter who your teammates are, all the best hockey players can put that aside to win.

Unless you're Chris Pronger or Sean Avery or whatever.

trancehead 04-01-2012 09:08 PM

not saying its impossible, but yes they most certainly are pros
but even pros come riding high with emotions
it is a business. very well put...but thats to the owners and such for the most part. to the players, i would assume not so much

take morrison and bertuzzi for example
they both went to the flames
but sure enough it was well after the heated rivalries between nucks and flames

i remember talbot took that fight with carcillo in the first round against philly, after that momentum swing it led to them winning the cup...with talbots 2 goals in game 7 lol

and LOL chris pronger. guy gets booed in every arena almost. he must love it

DanHibiki 04-01-2012 09:27 PM

Asham was a Philly for 2 years and got into some heated scrums with the pens. Now he's a Pen and he is getting it on big time against Philly lol.

91LS-VTak 04-01-2012 09:32 PM

Talbot feeling weird? How about Jagr? Comes back to the NHL and signs with Philly, even after Pitts asked him to sign with them.

DanHibiki 04-01-2012 09:44 PM

^Ya but he's been away from playing on the Penguins for many many years now and had no part in this rivalry that stemmed over the last 5 years or so

As a hockey player, you play for the name in front of you and not the name behind you. Rivalry or not, players sign with the team they feel they fit best into and at the end of the day its a job they get paid to do.

dont u see the contradiction in that statement?

so if they were to play for the name in front, they would not even consider signing with a cross state rival. because theyve had their loyalties tied to the soon to be previous team.

well having said that, once they join that new rival, their loyalties are realigned. might be akward the first couple of matches, but skies are still blue and calgary still sucks

Reminds me of the comment Kesler made on Luongo during the olympics.
Media probably blew it out of proportion and made it more hostile than it really was,
but they are both very competitive and wanted to win. After the olympics,
the focus was back on the Canucks.

bballguy 04-02-2012 01:38 AM

You hate everyone on the ice who is not wearing the same jersey as you...It's really that simple...If you get traded, you have a new jersey, and now have new mates, and new enemies...When you are a free agent, you no longer have a jersey, so there are no enemies. That's when you explore your options and pick whatever team is best suited for you...You don't pick whichever team you hated the least when you were wearing your previous uniform...

It's strictly just competitive nature...When you're on the ice, you HAVE to hate everyone on the other team...It's a driving force that makes you and your teammates work harder; nothing more, nothing less.

cliffhanger33 04-02-2012 01:52 AM

It Pissed off Laviolette when pens put their fourth line with their goon Engellend in last few minutes of the game. Don't see why Laviolette would react as bad as that though, it's normal to put out your fourth liners in a rivalry game like this as Flyers could have potentially taken a cheap shot on the Pens with just a few minutes left in the game. Pens never took any cheap shots during the entire game and after Vitale lays a completely clean hit, all the flyers come after him. Laviolette goes berserk coz Pens tried to defend themselves during the brawl............ he claimed it to be a gutless play but I call it terrible coaching on his part tbh

SkinnyPupp 04-02-2012 01:52 AM

I think because they put the goons out specifically to go after Schenn. That is dirty coaching, something you'd expect from Craig Mactavish not Dan Bylsma

Mike Oxbig 04-02-2012 04:31 AM

Well thats what happens when you do that to their BEST player

He even tried to mess with kovalchuk (Height: 6-3 Weight: 230lbs) and got his ass handed to him :lol

Knowing both these ladies, Brit needs to STFU and stop being an attention whore, judging from her spelling, it seems she's still concussed from when Looch threw her purse at her head, at least Jill does something to contribute and works unlike Brit who just does nothing in Boston but live of Looch and spend his money acting like a jersey shore wannabe.

Didn't Kesler say he never liked Canadians, or some shit like that? Either way, that's a retarded fucking thing to say, especially since you play in a Canadian market. If this was any other player, NOT playing on the Canucks, he would have gotten lit up by everyone on this board.

Kesler, IMO, has never been good with interviews and he tends to say some stupid/awkward shit. I guess it's part of the reason why he's not captain - he doesn't deal with the media well, at all.
