I had this exact conversation with so many people. I thought of that from the start but...c'mon...I don't think they would.

HOWEVER, if they did, it wouldn't surprise me. Gillis is smart like that.

Ronin 04-02-2012 05:53 PM

This year's playoff race has been incredibly interesting compared to previous years. Last year's West was pretty funny but this year, man...nothing is sure! LA is 3rd but could still miss the playoffs. Who knows who will be 7-8!

Up until a week ago, more than a dozen teams were fighting for the bottom 3 spots in each conference. With 3-4 games left, we STILL have 8 teams alive and 5 playoff spots up for grabs! This year has been a stat nerd dream too.

SkinnyPupp 04-02-2012 06:26 PM

Actually I'm surprised there isn't more conversation going on about Daniel's break. First, the shot didn't really look concussion worthy, as it was a side swipe to the jaw. You never know I guess.. but then he went to the 'quiet room' where he would have been strictly evaluated. They deemed it OK for him to get back into the game... After 1 shift, he left the game, holding his jaw (not really a concussion symptom).

Then we have MG saying he'll be in for the playoffs. How often do we know so far out when a concussion victim is ready to come back? Oh right, never. Usually they are out for however-long-it-takes, with estimates almost always wrong, whether it's shorter or longer than the estimates.

My first guess was that they are resting Daniel for the playoffs, since I'm sure both Sedins are in rough shape after a season, and quite frankly played like shit for the last 2 months or so.

But this theory of resting BOTH guys under the guise of a concussion break makes it WAY more interesting :considered:

He never actually said that he would be ready for playoffs; that was just the media(TSN) trying to make a story out of nothing...

These were his exact words:

"It's risky to make projections with these things because one day the player just may not feel right, but he's going in the right direction. He's feeling a little better each day. We're hopeful if things keep going the way they are that he'll be available [for the first round]."

He never once stated that he will definitely be ready...

SkinnyPupp 04-02-2012 06:43 PM

lol nice

Ronin 04-02-2012 06:45 PM

I keep getting the feeling that this is something so crazy, it just might work.

Seriously, how would they even know? There's no way they could prove this unless they...I don't know...DNA tested them after games.

Pictures? Seriously, unless you're a hardcore Canucks fan, you can't tell the Sedins apart. I can...but I'm one of the aforementioned hardcore...and even then it's a struggle sometimes, especially when they're wearing their helmets.

SkinnyPupp 04-02-2012 06:49 PM

If you're hardcore enough, you might be able to tell by their play style... so start looking closely!

RiceIntegraRS 04-02-2012 06:55 PM

I can tell them apart pretty easily and there skating style is completly
Different between the 2

jdmhaze 04-02-2012 06:56 PM

One of my friends told me that they always hold their sticks opposite ways when on the bench. I didn't believe him, but sure enough they always are opposite.

cliffhanger33 04-02-2012 08:11 PM

One of them also has a bigger forehead, just forgot who, i think daniel

:troll:

Ronin 04-02-2012 08:13 PM

Henrik has a rounder forehead. Daniel has a squarer forehead.

b0unce. [?] 04-02-2012 08:17 PM

Henrik wears the "C". Daniel wears the "A".

Gh0stRider 04-02-2012 08:23 PM

If the Panthers beat Winnipeg at home on Tuesday night, Florida will be headed to the NHL post-season for the first time since 2000

AzNightmare 04-02-2012 08:25 PM

I find this theory absolutely ridiculous, but its sure fun to talk about, since it's not game day, and we have nothing else to talk about.

I legitimately think the Panthers can make it to the 2nd round probably. They are a pretty solid team now.

I keep hearing about this from the team, fans, and media but after all these years, i still can't tell them apart.

Most likely because on the ice... the helmet practically covers 80% of the forehead.

Seriously, if they switch numbers + positions for a game, I'd seriously think they'd fool almost everyone in their fanbase.

I guess its more prominent during the interviews, but it's pretty obvious even with the helmet on too.

Maybe it's just my personal flaw.

Considering that even when I play ice hockey, there are a lot of times I can't recognize people off the ice without their hockey helmets on. And given that that we're talking about recognizing either twin, I think that's fucking with me even more. :D

Give it a season or two, you'll be right up there with the rest of the CDC conspiracy theorists :) It IS more fun this way and does make things more interesting in an overly long exhibition season. And could you honestly say a guy like MG would not do this if given the chance to get off scott-free on it? He's weasly in a legit until proven guilty kind of way...

I didn't think Daniel had a concussion either initially, and TBH I can't say I 100% believe he does either (see above, kind of skeptical about Ballard too). Did Daniel make it to the quiet room before playing half his PP shift? I thought he started the PP on the faceoff after he was hit, whereas typical quiet room protocol you have to spend 15 minutes in there or something like that.

Just looking through the stats as of tonight:
:heckno:
+/- leaders:
1. Patrice Bergeron, BOS 36
2. Zdeno Chara, BOS 33
3. Tyler Seguin, BOS 32
4. Chris Kelly, BOS 31
5. Brad Marchand, BOS 30
Boychuk is #7 on the list. Eff

And Hank is still leading the assists race after 6-8 weeks of producing nothing before flipping his switch recently.

Doesn't mean all that much; Boston has the greatest point differential by quite a bit because they kill the shit teams...If I recall correctly, they've had a few 7-0, 8-0, 9-0 games....
