Help on finding a car with good seats and high roof Hi guys. I'm suffering from a back injury that just seems to get worse and worse. I am unable to sit in my own car now without pain and discomfort which I believe is due to the slight inclination of the seats (tilting down towards the back). So I was wondering if anyone knows of any cars that have seats that are more parallel to the floor or maybe more ergonomic seats with good back support. Also because I am tall, I need good head room. If I put any kind of seat cushion on my current car I am touching the ceiling. Thank you for your help. |

Drive a few volvos and mercedes, I really like their seats. I find the e90 3 series has a seat that's pretty parallel to the ground. |
volvo v70r 6spd good luck finding one though |

Volvo and BMW seats are quite nice. |
if you need good fuel econ as well then Nissan Cube is the only choice for that stadium like head room. Driver's seat has seat bottom angle/height adjustment and the seat is soooo damn cushy like you won't believe it. http://cdn.getauto.com/photos/5/7205...T119964-1c.jpg When you park it up against a RX350 or other SUVs you will find that the roof is comparable in height, but the seat is at a normal car like position, yielding you extreme amount of real estate inside, vertically speaking. look at that headroom in action: |
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll prob give the Volvo a look. I think Jetta's have pretty good seats too no? |
I sell a lot of Escapes and Flexes exactly because of older or disabled people who find they have the most supportive seats. It's worth checking them out. |
The Flex is one damn sexy looking vehicle, I must say. Lowered a bit on some nice wheels... |
You should try sitting in a F150 or a Silverado/Sierra 1500 I'm 6'0 tall and can get in and out without much bending of my back. lots of room in the cab |
+1 for f150 |
Thanks for the suggestion but I'm looking sedans in particular |
nissans have good headroom, as well as the G's. |
Anything remotely sporty is going to have a bucket type of seat.. which is exactly the kind of seat you think you have now and which will give you back pain if you have a back injury. What you need is a truck-like seat, like what an F150 or Escape or Flex has. (NOT designed to be a sporty vehicle) You may need to explore beyond sedans in order to get the kind of seat you are looking for. |
My suzuki sx4 has a ridiculous amount of headroom, which is weird for a Japanese sub compact. I've had no problems with my seats during my 5 hour road trip to osoyoos each way. I also love the fold down arm rests. Good car for the price Posted via RS Mobile |

Some of the best seat's I've sat in were in an Audi A3 or S3. Though I'm not sure on the headroom portion. |
I find mid range cars have good seats, my mom has a Civic like thing, and the lumbar support is just plain shit, i can't drive that thing more than 20-25 minutes without getting a sore back, back's sore from a combination of two accidents. What i would recommend is anything with full adjustability and i find leather is more comfy than cloth seats. Even between similar cars like the G35 and the 350z the seats are quite different. i never get tired in my G35, even though it's a bit sporty-ish, but my point is any mid range or entry level luxury car is what i'd aim for. |
Fuckkk making the high roof. Just mount the seat on the floooor. Install some reeecaro's! LOL |
