Barrett's esophagus

Any RS members suffering from this serious condition? id like to hear your stories and share ideas of how you are coping/managing the condition.

For those unaware of Barrett's esophagus, it is the result of long term heartburn/acid reflux. It starts out as acid reflux and when left untreated becomes GERD (GastroEsophageal Reflux Disease). If diet isnt managed well at this point, acid reflux becomes persistent and eventually erodes the esophagus lining. The lining starts bleeding and this is how Barrett's esophagus is formed. This is the last stage of condition before Esophageal Cancer. After that, its pretty much over...

Ive been managing it by taking Nexium but this drug cost a lot of money especially without medical benefits so i am taking Zantac as an alternative. Besides drugs, ive been maintaining my diet by cutting out carbonated drinks, caffeine, much of the fried fatty foods, tomatoes, alcohol, etc..
Ive also tried going more natural by drinking pure aloe vera juice, raw honey, and chamomile tea.

Have you tried taking Pariet (rabeprazole) instead of Nexium? Same class of drug, but about 1/4 the cost

I used to have problems with acid reflux.. really bad for a while. I cut carbs from my diet, and it went away. It only comes back when I start eating lots of carbs again.
