^ so's the eventual broken nose when you try to yank off the wheel and it ends up hitting you square in the face.

No need for a steering wheel puller, this is what you do,it's worked for me many times.
Loosen the nut until it's only held on by a few threads, then you grab the left side of the steering wheel with your left hand, then grab the right side of the steering wheel with your right hand, wiggle left to right a few times with alot of strength, then procede to do the same going from top to bottom of the steering wheel, once you have done that, then try and pull the steering wheel off.If it still won't budge, keep repeating the steps, trust me,it will come off.
Also spray some WD40 on the bolt and let it soak for a bit before doing this.

yup, spyker hit it on the nail. for extra support or power, you can get out of the car and start kicking/punching the wheel.
after the wheel "pops" out of position, you'll be like |

Yup.
And Steering Wheel Nut torque specs are usually under 50lb/ft. (30-40)
If you can't pull out something that can be easily grabbed and has a ton of Leverage.. you have other problems.

Can. Tire will lend them out for free. All you need to do is give a deposit. Just call ahead to make sure they have one available.
And like everyone else said, you don't need one.
