It's not that same :( Especially when you go in craving it.

Thank god there was a big bowl of Pho to help my craving.

Thanks tho! Time to get more :D

dyan 07-01-2011 02:04 PM

6793026 07-01-2011 07:43 PM

i was there and it was ok. I had their famous number 1 and it was great to get a chance of taste. had the shirmp and pork... was it epic... meh.. it's ok... would i drive all the way back.. not relaly.

8/10.... just diff. but didn't think it was too high of it. I do appreciate this thread cause after i read it, i drove by and i'm like.. let's try it out since Dona cata wasn't open that early.

Even though its our famous dish I personally agree with how you feel about it. I've only ate it once since we opened in March as I'm not a fan of it. But there are a whole crap load of people who come eat it Everyday. Try number 2 you might like it better. I love it way more. But BCRDukes prefers #1.

And this is all that matters. #1 > everything.

Mr.Money 07-01-2011 10:18 PM

they really have a vip card?...i mean you guy's are giving them free promotion?,excuse me?..30-20% discount please.

d1 07-01-2011 11:02 PM

I tried #1 as well and while I did like it, I'd prefer a regular bowl of pho. The shrimp/pork spring rolls were good too; especially when fresh.

Shut up you dirty Chinaman.

Skyline350gt 07-02-2011 12:33 AM

Went today with my gf I tried mi quang it was pretty good but my gf had pho tai bo vien...and damn the meat was tender and tasty. Broth was excellent as well..I ate all my Mi Quang and all hers too :D

Spoon 07-02-2011 01:00 AM

came by tonight with wife and baby. tried #1 just because the pics looked so good. too bad it just wasn't a home run for me. much prefer the soup noodles.

my wife and aunt enjoyed the place too. really liked the fact that the place is so clean unlike most pho places. +1 for being baby friendly.

GG 07-02-2011 01:09 AM

i came by today as well

hmmm i think the place is good, but nothing epic

the goods

clean, friendly staff

My gf had no.6

PHO wise, i would rate it a 6/10

kinda blend and light, not too much flavor, noodle were a bit soggy

Veggies were fresh tho

The shirmp roll i would give it a 7/10

no.1 i would rate it 7.5/10

5 being average, 10 being epic

so its still not a bad experience.

I live pretty damn far, so would i drive 30-40 minutes for it? no probably not

but still not a shabby place to check it out

SeanJohn 07-02-2011 01:31 AM

This place definitely looks like it is worth trying. Even though I lurk, I trust BCRDukes' judgement when it comes to food.

I only hope that it isn't all RS hype like the MASSIVE letdown that Ebisu was.

GG 07-02-2011 01:35 AM

i do think it got over hyped

was ebisu really that overrated?

i thought it wasnt bad, obviously not 10/10 but....definitely aint a 5/10 either

bcrdukes 07-02-2011 01:38 AM

LOL!

Thanks, SeanJean! :D

For the record, I do my best to understand the culinary and cultural influences of a particular cuisine. Like I mentioned in a separate thread, I was privileged to have grown up trying a variety of ethnic foods, Vietnamese being one of them.

One can never expect a mind blowing experience as some have. Sadly, they were let down and I can respect that. But being able to understand how the food should be served and to be eaten as intended can go a long way. That's what made my experience much better than what can be had at say Pho Hoa or Gold Train Express.

Don't get me wrong. There are tonnes of Vietnamese restaurants out there which serve good food but to me, any sort of MSG laden broth served over sub-standard noodles just isn't what I look for. Hoi An hits it on the spot when it comes to simplicity in their ingredients and soups. They keep it simple and that's what I love about their food. I don't think Hoi An was over-hyped by any means. A lot of people have enjoyed their food and hospitality. :)

best post on revscene hands down.

Meowjin 07-02-2011 02:36 AM

Hype is one thing, but saying it's your standard pho place is silly.

1) it's clean
2) the staff speak english and are friendly
3) the pho is actually good.
4) they have dishes that other nammer joints dont have
5) And they nailed the broth perfectly.
6) it's consistent.

now if only i can find a place that does buhn cha perfectly.

IMO, i'm super picky with food, if dooooookes, kwazy and me say it's good it's good.

AVS_Racing 07-02-2011 02:45 AM

so i was trying to google the address of this place and some how vids of the chicks popped up

:troll: :fuckthatshit:

Meowjin 07-02-2011 02:52 AM

oooooooooooold news you pervert.

AVS_Racing 07-02-2011 02:54 AM
