Please help my friend out

Hi there

My friend seldom use Internet at home. He just moves into a new apartment with no internet access yet. He is using a Android HTC legend phone with 2.23 on it. If he already has a data plan with rogers, is it possible for him to surf the internet from his laptop via his phone with the data plan ?

Please kindly let me know whether it is possible to do so.

Your help is highly appreciated in advance.

Using your phone as a modem (tethering)
Get online with your notebook or desktop computer at any time, using your phone’s data connection. For information on setting up and using the data connection, see Data connection.

You need to install HTC Sync before you can use your phone as a modem. Refer to Using HTC Sync for details.
You need a SIM card installed on your phone.
Make sure your phone’s data connection is turned on. See Data connection to learn how to turn on the phone’s data connection.
Connect the phone to the computer using the provided USB cable.
On the Connect to PC screen, select Internet sharing, and then tap Done.
Note: When you are using your phone as a modem, the USB mass storage feature is disabled, and you are also not able to use HTC Sync.

better get him to check if Rogers allow tethering on their data plans... otherwise he could get charged extra...
