Pretty easy for me. Updated all 5 devices in about 2.5 hrs. Only hiccup was on phone4 and pad1 where it puked a "backup error" msg at me. Do not feel any diff in speed on pad 1/2 or phone/touch 4. Smoother multitasking on touch 3. Really hate that I can't put newsstand in my "useless shit that I can't delete" folder.

Edit: Finally, personalized txt MSG alert. So bloody sick of pulling out my phone to check for shit all the time when the 'glass' tone sounds cause its the least obnoxious tone and every one and their dog is using it.

Took me 4 "Error 3200" messages before I updated.

I don't really notice a huge difference so far; I guess we'll just have to wait for more people to get iOS 5 so that we can see what iMessaging is all about

For Those of you having trouble updating because the servers are jammed

Go here and download the ispw file directly, then go to iTunes and click shift+restore and select the file. Bam all done!

Mine did that for a couple of minutes but it works fine now. The only problem is finding people to imessage in the first few hours after release.

So i had issues updating my moms ipad2

but i retried it and it worked but then itunes wouldnt restore the apps

so i had to attempt a restore again and it worked


but now none of my moms apps will open.... like when i click on an app the screen will flash black and return to the main menu

when you double click the button to see what apps are running the apps i click on show as running but when i click on them it'll just flash black again and return to the homescreen


any ideas?



edit: went into the app store to download an app i already have (read that that fixes it) but itunes popped up getting me to accept their new terms&conditions first
after doing that i didnt reinstall any apps and tried to see if my moms apps would open now and they did

^ had that happen to me, i just rebooted a couple of times and it was fine

hmmm When you do restore the first time. It shouldn't restore apps because the apps are now restored after the device is turned back on.

I would suggest doing a restore again and don't unplug when itune is doing its restore (device can be used but cannot be unplugged)

^^ when i did it the first time it gave me one of those error codes half way through

then the second time it worked but the apps would crash to homescreen

tried rebooting it didnt work

i had to login to the app store and try and download/update an app and then i got the new terms & conditions acceptance pop-up had to accept that (and instead of downloading i went and tried the apps again and they worked, wouldn't crash anymore)

I synced my photos to a folder called "Meme Icons" but on my phone there's two albums, "Photo Library" and "Meme Icons". I can't delete them. ??????

I have "7 hours remaining".... down from 12hrs nearly 2 hours ago. I'm going to give this a shot.

For those using GEVEY, make sure you use sn0wbreeze to preserve your baseband otherwise you're fucked.

ok so I have a big issue, so heres the story

I have a jailbroken iPhone 4, come home all stoked about updating to iOS5
I plug it in my PC and it gives me some error message about an "unknown device" has been plugged in. So I try plugging my phone into 2 other pcs and also a Mac. Still get the "Unknown Device" error message on the other PC's and nothing happens on the mac. So i think... "maybe its the cable i have...". Tried 2 other cables and the same shit happens. "So ok, maybe my phone is fucked"

So my GF gets home from work a little later, i told her about my phone issue.
She gets paranoid and tries her phone too. AND IT DOESNT WORK either! She syncs her phone all the time and even uploaded some new music this morning. But now it doesnt work!?

back up first.

download the ispw directly to your pc

click shift + restore in itunes

locate the file

and it'll restore and update to ios5

when finished, restore from backup.

thats the point haha, I'm one of them now. I rushed home from school to get it.

^ the problem is my PCs or mac doesnt even recognize the phone when plugged in, let alone recognize on itunes. It doesnt even charge on usb.

Even weirder is that my gf is also experiencing this too, coincidentally today, on all our computers too

Anyone have more than one iDevice? I just noticed that both my iPhones show up in iTunes at the same time. Now I wonder if I could sync them both together without something crashing.....

No problem at all, touch3 via USB+pad1&2 simultaneously on mba. Touch4+phone4 via wifi on older mbp works without a hiccup too.

I'm currently on a jailbroken 4.3.1. iphone 4. Is it true that if I upgrade to iOS5, I will lose all my jailbroken apps?

Yes but jailbreak for 5.0 should be out soon; they alrdy have a tethered.
