Grand Canyon

So i'll be heading to vegas in the end of august for 5 days...

Thinking about renting a car and driving down to see the Grand Canyon.
But I just want know if its something that could be done in a day trip? Or if its even worth going to see? Or should i save the day or two and just stay in vegas?

I just went last week
I was there for like a few hours lol for pics..you can definately do it in a day unless you want to do some serious hiking. I looked into doing the skywalk thingee but it doesnt let you bring your cam in so I didnt

I drove up from Phoenix and if I was only going to Grand Caynon I wouldn't say it's worth it...but I stopped by Sedona on the way (IMO a lot more gorgeous than the Canyon..known for their red rocks). I would seriously suggest if you were going to drive out to the Canyon you should check that place out as well (~ 2 hour drive south from Canyon). It's next to Flagstaff, AZ and if you do go there check out the jeep tours. Go with the Pink Jeep Tours because they actually climb rocks, it's great!

If you are planning to go either places perhaps try to go there for the sunset...the colours of the rocks look even more amazing.

^ thanks for the info, Sedona looks tempting but a little far for me, since i have a hotel already booked and payed for the consecutive nights in vegas, kind of not worth it if i cant make it in back in a day.

No camera at the skywalk? damn..... was really hoping to bring my SLR, wonder if i can sneak in a point and shoot?

but for the grand canyon, which rim is the nicest? North ,south or west?

i was only at the south rim..which was supposed to have your typical grand canyon viewpoints.

north has the higher elevation

here's a concise read: South Rim vs North Rim | Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona | Kaleidoscopic Wandering

it's worth checking out imo... really no other place like it.

I took some tour bus which drove a group over to the skywalk
and the actual skywalk is a waste of money... just check out the surrounding area's.

Spoiler!

you can easily make it a day trip, plus the drive is awesome. I think you should be passing by the Hoover Dam on the way.
